I made some pictures in a surgery room in the hospital for my final paper. Today I decided to continue work on it. I had them on my dad's PC which my brother and sisters use as well. Now it looks like someone deleted them, and my brother decided it was time to format the cam's HD as well cause he 'needed to put new pics on it'. WTF are 6! f. photos on a HD you can put over 100 on and he didn't even fill it all. Why not let them in it or at least f. ask me. Anyway it looks like I'm screwed and they're gone.
Also because the idiot who deleted them from the pics folder on the PC hasn't told anything so I defragmentated the HD which makes it even less likely I'll find anything back. I asked on another forum if there are any linux tools to do this. But has anyone have any experience in doing this stuff yourself. I think my chance are really small but I want to have those pics to put them in my paper |

Any defrag tool will have obliterated those files, except possibly the winXP default one.

I used WinME defrag tool. Would that be the same as WinXP?

Those are dead files. Even the winXP defragger would almost certainly have killed them, but the winME defragger is much more effective than the winXP one.
If you really want them back, a professional data recovery lab could do it for as little as $6000. |

Well, as it would appear that at the moment, you are completely stuffed, I don't suppose it would hurt to try Googling free+data+recovery.
I found this http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/U...eUndelete.html [ 02-05-2005, 12:55 PM: Message edited by: Mouse ]

I won't let it do professionaly cause that's too expensive. And it's only 6 pictures. Though I don't mind cause I can remember how fun it was to look there. I won't get a mark for this, only thing is I can win 100E if I make the best from all the class which I simply don't have the right subject and questions for.
Mouse, thanks for the help but that is a program for NTFS filesystem and I run winme which uses another. Thanks for the help! |
