As a guardian hunter myself- I say this sniper has 45,000 pissed off well-armed woodsmen tracking him as of now. They wouldn't think twice about taking this guy out and don't take kindly to defenseless cold blooded killings of anything!. The 500,000 dollars means nothing to them now and it wont be long before the woods get a green light they hope.
Good move on the State's part imo for now.

Business owners are admitting that their outdoor eateries are totally screwed and even indoor business has slacked significantly everywhere because of the sniper's activities.
No one is going to "run from their car doging a possible bullet"...people are going to try to live their lives as normally as possible and get taken out for it as has already been proven.

Yeah Im amazed what it shows on the tv and yet I walk outside and don't see any of it. Apparently the Gaurdian Angles are only in one part of Manassas.

Some out door caffe's are having a lull in business but that would be the case with or with out the sniper...its been raining on and off for the last couple of weeks..and all of the last 2 days. The other night before the rain started the streets of Georgetown were as crowded as ever, no place to park and the sidewalk bars and cafes full to capacity.....just depends on where they choose to focus their cameras I guess.

True but it is the principleof the thing, payment given, goods or services received and all that. And while I am an AVID pro-gun advocate and own several I wouldnt want to see a bunch of vigilantes running around. That would be a bad thing I think.

The hunting ban is a sort of force majure situation - making it legally a difficult thing to win back the bucks. I like Attalus's suggestion that they get next year free - and I guess the hunters who aren't around next year become "free money" from the state's point-of-view. I would suggest that the surrounding states should also have a hunting ban, considering the circumstances.

Better yet, why not allow everyone who can pay *another* 6 bucks to go sniper hunting? All those folks pissed off at the sniper could then exact their revenge. Doesn't he strike near dusk and dawn? Perfect time for hunting, I say.

What hunting season(s) did it affect? Some seasons only last a couple of weeks.

Im not sure about the Maryland Hunting seasons, I don't hunt small game because I dont like the taste of most smaller animals, anddo all my Deer hunting in PA. A free season next year would be nice, but probably wont happen.

I think there is some kind of Deer hunting season in effect in Maryland at the moment, but I could be wrong.

I s'pose but from the business owner's own mouths, at least they were blaming their lack of business on the sniper.

I feel for you guys in the area, I really do.

There's safe haven in Texas if any of you all want to come out and spend a few weeks in the Texas boonies. I know if I were there, I'd rather be anyplace else including Texas.

I agree that it is wrong to not refund the hunters but it is only $6, which is it more of a reason to get a refund them. Well next year there will be a *lot* more deer! Look at it that way...

The plane idea seems like it would work eventually. If they can locate a shot, the police should be able to blockade the area quickly. They've done it before. But I have a feeling that the sniper will be a lot more cautious now. Why do they allow the media to air stuff like that anyway?

You guys be careful up there... Magik I understand your attitude. What are you never going to go to any important building because of September 11th? Can't live your whole life in fear, that's what these people want!

Moni I might take you up on that offer. It's boring as heck over here! Lol!

Sad thing is the only news we got from our Gov is a huge budget crunch Majik. Many social jobs and operation hours cut back ): Nothing about this subject at all.
The 6 bucks are nothing for individuals but very well used in the the State's conservation programs for fish and game. I'm sure 99% of the them will go along with this temp status. I think it's all small game up until November, except for bow hunters. Did you guys know that there is more deer, fish, and wild game in this country then when the settlers founded it?.

I was doing jumping jacks in front of the gas pump yesterday, also went to the Home Depot in broad daylight. Gonna live my life everyday

Oh, John D.- the air patrol is here

OK Magik, I can only speak for myself, don't know what others that live near me think. Yes I don't see people cringing and running in parking lots, but a lot of people are staying indoors more. Myself, I am scared (sorry dear). I move quickly now when I'm outside, as I don't know where this guy is at, he has covered quite a wide spectrum, no real pattern to go on. I also eyeball every single white van that fits the description that I pass buy, actually look inside and look at the driver (which I never usually do) and take note of the plates. It IS on my mind quite a lot of the time I am outside now. And it pisses me off very much, I want this guy caught like yesterday already! No, I'm not stopping shopping or getting gas, as we HAVE to do that don't we? Not acting like an afright fool in public either, but still, the fear is there, and I'm keeping my eyes out, and walking fast to get from point A to B so as not to be an easy target.

Sorry, but that is how I feel, you asked..
