Not really looking for any spoilers .....
Just wanna know if im going to be skipping from area to area the rest of my life, darn things seem to be unlimited Is it time to get a notebook and pen, start making a map, or am i doing something wrong here ? Thx for any replies (:

its a bit easier than that, the game provides you with what you need to make it through

follow the mirror he went through, at the south (bottom right) portal, you can talk to him again,(select text for more info) and if you cast heal on him he'll become sane again

Although reading yakman's journal is usefull - I would still suggest that you make that - it will come in handy.
minor spoiler - - - - - if you haven't discovered it already you will find that going back through a portal that you've just come out of - will NOT lead you back to the area you've left.

I just went for the no-brains solution, hasted my party and went through spells blazing and swords swinging [img]smile.gif[/img] ( the spell-blazing was funny in the wild-magic rooms )
