How do I get the codebook from "The South Wall" and the thieves' guild without killing them?

I found a way
First I tried bribing her. I got it all up 100, and she still wouldn't give it to me. So I tried getting her to attack me, seeing as it's perfectly legal to defend myself. I got her down to 0, and she didn't touch me.

So I stole something right in front of her to provoke her, and that did the trick. She attacked, I killed her, took the codebook and put in a basket outside before turning myself in. The fine was 1 gold ( [img]smile.gif[/img] ) and I went back to get the codebook and lastly I delivered it to my master at the Fighters' guild..

that's weird,

she gave me the code book after I bribed her up to 70+...

umm...

I pickpocketed her, took me lot of trials though.

I'm stuck at this quest...not the how to do, but the do I do

Seems like a road is crossed here.....do I side with fighter's or theives GOtta sleep on it tonight [img]smile.gif[/img]
