I don't feel sorry for the undead so when you summon them and use them as cannon fodder for the dragon smile. Then let your party hack away at the dragon with (if you have them) +3,+4 weapons. If your mage or cleric is a high level then you can get quite powerful undead who can cause a lot of trouble for the dragon. It took me roughly 6 attemts with this tactic. Go on try it your self!!

The dragon is vulnerable to electrical damage and immune to acid damage.

This is a battle that you should fully buff up your party before initiating.

Having a paladin in your party is a good thing so that his Aura of Courage can counteract the dragon's fear aura.

Have your ranged characters and spellcasters stay well back from the dragon, outside of the fear aura. Also outside of the dragon's acid breath.

If one of your tanks gets badly injured, have that tank RETREAT back to your healer for an immediate heal. Do not send the cleric forward to do the Heal spell. The wounded tank may die before the cleric gets there. Retreating gets the wounded tank out of immediate danger, away from the dragon's claws.

Use some summoned monsters for cannon fodder. They may not do any damage, but they will soak up some damage.

Aside from electrical spells, another good spell for a mage to use against the dragon is Mordenkainen's Sword (if you have it at this point, that is).

The Guardian dragon is one of the toughest solo monsters in the game. But with good tactics, it is possible to defeat it.
