Following 250's post in Memmnoch's Discussion on the perpetrators, it reminded me of a discussion by BBC Newsnight on what type of terrorists do this.

Suicide bombings are usually unskilled loners who are radical and irrational. They are rarely skilled in piloting planes, and carry out attacks in groups so co-ordinated and efficient, and the vast planning which took months if not years has fooled the international intelligence community.
They said this is a new kind of terrorism. Using LOW TECH. attack in a HIGH CONCEPT.

Maybe, but a crushing blow driven right into the heart of the largest empire on modern earth will take alot of organizing, alot of money, and more importantly people in high places to ensure that it runs smoothly. Plebs have nothing to gain by war and murder, it's the rich and powerful that gain from these sorts of actions.

Do you think it went """""better (I reluctantly use this word)"""""" than it was planned?? I don't think the collapse of the twin towers was planned.

I heard it was a group of terrorists on one plane, with those little knives that can get through metal detectors. One stewardess called in and gave the seat number of at least one of the people. Hopefully, this will help them find out who it was. I can't help praying, though, for the hijackers, they have been badly misguided and influenced and I still pray for their souls.

The problem with the suicide attacks is that they are dead with minimum clues!
I hope they didn't parachute away!!!! Better check!

They seemingly botched the plane assault (the one that 'crashed') that was heading for Camp David (supposedly). This would have eliminated one of the Presidents' best areas of refuge. Bad luck for whoever was planning the attacks I suppose.
I don't think this is all that the attackers have up their sleeve. This was just designed to create an atmosphere of dispair and panic, they have succeeded admirally. America (and it's allies) are fuming with anger and bloodlusting thoughts of revenge. It would be wise to take a few deep breaths and not fall into the anger-trap. Another Franz Ferdinand would not be good for the world.

But look at the timing. It's immaculate. One after the other in a series to cause maximum panic, chaos and casualties.

THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS AT NIGHT. The casualties would be MUCH lower and the infrastructure devastation equal. But they shouldn't do this in the 1st place.

All I will say is that their is really no defense against fanatical suicidal terrorists. I think Larry mentionned something about kamikaze fighters in World War II. There was no defense against them either. When someone is willing to die for whatever "cause," you cannot protect against that. It is a mindset that is pretty incomprehensible to the "normal" person.

Whoever did it were/are obviously very hateful people. I doubt they were really all that concerned with civilian life. Nothing makes people go more insane with mob-fury than killing their innocent loved ones. This was a scene-setter, a little love-letter to the American foreign diplomats. If the Leaders arn't careful with how they react (ie: go straight after revenge without thinking what THEY might have done in their foreign policy to create such hatred in the first place) then this could lead to a world of shit.
