My character just got hs 4th level as a Ranger, and is now a ranger4/rogue2 but he didn't get any ranger spells like I was so sure he would... is the rule diffrent for multiclass rangers, he has Wisdom 14 (15, because of an amulet actually, so I'd say he qualifies...
Any idea? |

I don't have the manual right here at work to verify it, but I think you need to have 6 Ranger levels to cast spells. When it comes to spellcasting it's always the casters class' level that determines spell level, and not your character level ( your total level if you're a multi-class). If that were the case then a 1 Wizard/19 Fighter could cast lv. 9 Wizard spells, not really balanced wouldn't you agree.
When you leveled up your Ranger to lv. 6 then you should be able to cast spells. [ 11-05-2003, 11:52 AM: Message edited by: Stratos ]

One thing that could be happening is if your base wisdom (not the modified wisdom with items) is 10 or lower. You did say that your wisdom was 14 (15 with the amulet) so I am assuming that the 14 was your base.
I would also check the spell tables for Rangers in the back of the NWN manual just to make sure that rangers actually start getting spells at 4th level. I thought they started getting spells at 6th level but since I don't have the manual in front of me I can't verify. Just verified it - the Ranger doesn't get spells until 6th level (not 4th). That's your problem. [ 11-05-2003, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: Micah Foehammer ]

Well, that's the problem then Jorath.
BTW in the spell table for Rangers and Paladins is says that you get to memorize one lv.1 spell at Ranger lv. 6. But on Ranger lv. 4 and 5 it there's a 0 instead of a 1. Does that mean that you could be able to learn spells at level 4 and 5 if your Wisdom is high enough to grant you extra spell slots at those levels? On level 1-3 there's only a - .

Okey thanks... I don't have the manual (used copy) but in the DnD Players handbook, the pen and paper version the ranger starts getting spells at 4th level, and... well I though NWN was pure 3e...

Yep, that was what I wondered with the question above. Ranger DO gain their first spells at level 4 in 3.5 edition AFAIK, but NWN is based on the original 3rd edition.
