sorry guys, but my manual is in the other side of europe, and i need to ask a question:

what are the maximum wisdom you can get (including the tomes in the whole saga) and what bonuses does it give your cleric?

is there an online manual i can check these things? its kinda unneccesarý to bother with these questions in the forum, when they can be so easily found out in the manual...

There are three tomes in BG1+TotSC one of which is part of the poison quest. I've never tried it, but I figure you could use it and speed-finish the game before the poison kills you.
Then there's the machine and the deck in ToB and of course the Wrath test in the Nine Hells
so:
18
+3 - tomes
+1 - Wrath tear (good)
+1 - MoLtM
+1 - DomT

24 WIS

To check out the effect you should visit SixofSpades' site.

It's the Deck of Cards (IIRC the correct name is Deck of many things)that you can get

SPOILER

from a demon on the third (or fourth, not sure here) level of Watcher's Keep (addon area in TOB). You draw cards (three times maximum) and they have a random effect on your character/group. Some are very positive, others not at all.

I had to look it up: The demon is in fact a cambion. As I'm not an AD&D specialist (Das Schwarze Auge rules!), I'm not sure whether they are demons. But I guess it's pretty close.

you can't get any Tomes of Wisdom in BG2 on though, right? I've only found them in BG1, like you already said. But I've never come upon 1 in BG2+ToB. And I believe that Ion stone you are talking about that raises your wisdom is only usable by mages

You can clua a tome of wisdom into BG2, but it isn't scripted to be a working item. It doesn't appear naturally anywhere in the game. You get the 3 tomes in BG1 I think only 2 if follow through with a certain quest instead of using it yourself.
