Looking at the timeline of the news reports and your posts, it is obvious that you already knew she had been cleared before posting the topic. So I can only assume your intent was to draw out the "blood smelling sharks" that support the death penalty and then spring the trap after they had stated thier opinions.

Masterfully done.

I do have one question though....the medical evidence clears the mom regarding the death of her second infant....but I saw no mention of any medical evidence that would explain the death of her first child. Has any evidence been found to question the first death also? Or does it even matter, since she was apparantly tried for both murders in the same trial, and it is blatantly obvious that the prosecution withheld material evidence concerning Harry's death. Therefore, there is only one conviction to overturn, I suppose.

I also wonder how a viral infection got so bad that it spread to the baby's cerebral spinal fluid??? That would be a very serious infection indeed.

For what it's worth, I would have supported the death penalty. But as you've proven, I would have been wrong to do so in this case.

Excellent job, Donut. I offer a Barbarian Salute to a worthy opponent.

Thank you Cerek (I think )

With no other evidence the death of a child due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) cannot be treated as murder. Only the death of the second child prompted investigation and prosecution. The evidence presented included information about her lifestyle. She was a highly paid solicitor (attorney) who was said to have no time to look after the children. But the damning statistic is the 73 million to one chance of a second SIDS victim in the same family. As a juror you would be hard pressed to ignore that.

Obviously in Donutland most things are not what they seem, yes I did cast the bait to see if there were any takers. The reason I did so was to show that things are not always black and white - there is a little grey in the world.

I acknowlege TL's original post where he suggests the death penalty only if there is no doubt but I would point out that people are still wanting her to fry even though I stated her innocence.

Donut - To be perfectly honost, I was very glad I didn't find this thread until after you "sprang the trap" - otherwise I would have been caught in it. I support the Death Penalty and I am especially outraged at people who harm children...so you would have caught me hook, line, and sinker.

While my views on the Death Penalty haven't changed, you have shown me to be sure I have ALL the facts before making any judgements about the person's guilt or innocence.

So my compliments and the Barbarian Salute were honost and sincere.

Way to excavate back pages, Cerek.

Must be due to decrease in traffic volume on IWF. Where did all our Great Debate friends & opponents run off to. How dare they have lives!
