OK. Just watched an old fave of mine - The Last Unicorn. I've heard this riddle before and thought an answer was given, but I don't know where so...
Why IS a raven like a writing desk? Is there an answer to this? It's driving me NUTS!!! ROTFL! That's actually from "Alice in Wonderland", and it's the riddle that the Mad Hatter posits to Alice at the Tea Party. The answer is (after much pondering on Alice's part and her finally giving up), "I haven't the slightest idea," whereupon Alice chides them for wasting time for asking foolish riddles that have no answers to them.

Thank you so much! Even knowing it is unanswerable gives me an answer. Now maybe I won't drive myself 'nanners over it anymore.
Thanks Saz and one and all for reminding me of hearing it in Alice in Wonderland. That, too, was bugging me (where I'd heard it before). And thank you, my Sharp Edged friend for the link. Veeery informative. Larry, to answer your question, my guess would be 'all of the above'. ------------------ The day we stop learning is the day we start dying!(c) *Member of the HADB clan.
