WELCOME, Magis!

This thing is rather irking me. I gave Larrel's assistant all the parts for the Astrolabe, killed everything that moved and should be killed in the entire building...but he still doesn't talk to me. If I take the dialog box and click on him, he just sorta walks around like nothing happened...my guy walks over to him but he has nothing to say. His mage buddy is the same way. I have tried just about everything to resolve this issue.

I walked up to him with the gem in hand...
I put the gem down and walked up to him...
I have rested and come back to him...

Any suggestions? I am at wits end and it irks me that I made it this far and the game is going Coocoo for cocoa puffs on me.

All I can think of is that you don't yet have all the pieces. His assistant always says much the same thing, so it is hard to know. I'll go check how many you have had, 'cos I can't remember off-hand. I think you have to get one from each tower...

Ok. There are five pieces of machine to collect. Did you get 'em all?

I am pretty sure I gave him all 5 pieces...considering the fact that the machine turned on and all of that jazz. It is nice and whirring all around and stuff...they just will no longer talk to me...

Um. Beyond me then. Have you installed the patch? It fixes lots of things. I'll go see if I can find anyone else who might have some ideas..

I've put a post on General Discussions to see if anyone there can help. If they can, someone will come to talk to you. You may have to wait a while, though..

I don't remember having any problem there. There was a bit of an issue when he offered to transport me and i declined. After declining I rethought and went back and he wouldn't talk to me. I don't think it's the same prob though.

HI and welcome Magis! Well you are not alone, There was a topic just like this some week ago..
I have had trouble too with Larrel wont talk to me. If you have a autosave before try and reload the fxing of the astroscope.. or you can try to go out of the complex and return, however this didn´t work for me. I had only one solution and that was to use area cheat code to get to the next stage...

I had the newest patch by then..

I have the latest version of the game so that is not the problem.

I cannot figure out why I cannot get past this point.

What cheat were you referring to?

Magis, Click on Ironworks Website at the extreme top left of the forum. When you get there, look for the 'cheats'. You may find what Wolfgir was talking about there. Not sure, but it has to be worth a look..

is there any chance that the Larrel and that other Mage have little red circles around them? they might not like you very much if that's the case. if so, you may need to load an old game and try from a few steps back.
otherwise, if you did give all the pieces and larrel's assistant is not talking to you anymore (he should say something like "yep, ain't she a beaut?") and their circles are not red; you may have a problem.
Are you def or silenced? have you tried going far away, say Kuldahur, then returning? perhaps if you save the game in the astrolabe (better yet, in the library just before it), quit the game back to the desktop, then load the game again? this trick can fix some of the "broken" little bugs in the game.

If you get in a total bind, I have a save game file that I keep zipped and stored for people such as yourself. The game is right after leaving the Severed Hand and returning to Kuldahar.

If you need it, just e-mail me.
