I had some fun with the "darkened one" last night. I was poking at all the scarab levers, and when I did some combo, I started to get a message that the Darkened One took x crushing damage. x = anything from 2 to 9. He took about 50 hits like that. Then it stopped, so I went and checked around the corner, sure enough he was at about 75% and stuck in a door. So I meteorstormed him, here's the BEST part, since he was in the door, and the spell targeted there, it didn't rain all around, EVERY hit was in the space of the door/bad guy overlap, and really fast, just BANGBANGBANGBANG and some green glow and he was done.

The problem with the Darkened One is not only silly but also very bad. Killing the Darkened One is a quest goal. I am not sure what happens when the door kills him instead of you. And - that's you who is here to kill him, not the door!

The door didn't kill him, after about 50 hits, the game stopped crushing him, even though he was still in the door. I guess there is a limit to crushing helping you. He had some many hit points, he oultasted the door.

Guess he got the EX for the door's demise too, eh??
How much is a door worth?? LOL! And how about the elevators? I personally would like to get EX for killing an elevator or two!  Wyv |

Okay...BIG HINT HERE...
If you can manage to get 1 whack in on a monster, you get credit for killing him/her/it, no matter WHAT causes its demise. I noticed this when summoning monsters (like demons) to kill opponents. If the demon killed the opponent before I had a chance to make a whack at it, I received no XP. If I ran over and slapped the monster 1 time, then let the demon go at it, I received full XP for doing so. I also tested this in the Shrine with the Darkened One (some time ago). If you let the doors kill the Darkened One, you do not get the XP and do NOT get the guild credit for the quest! But if you can hit him just 1 time, then you can stand back and let the doors do their "thang." It works.Interesting bit of game "illogic" there...  -Sazerac |
