I have all this broken armor in my inventory, and I don't know what to do with it. Do I just throw it away or can I get it repaired somewhere?

Welcome to the forums TheDatch

Broken armor can't be repaired anywhere. But later some merchants (actually only 2 in the game as far as i know) will buy it for 200GP so it might be worth keeping it. Only armor though. Broken shields and weapons cant be sold anywhere so just throw it away.

There is one place only where you will need some metal to finish a quest and you can use broken armor/weapon/shield. However in that place there will be plenty of it lying around. Also you can use a normal weapon or other metal objects too.

is Oswald fiddlebender (or whatever his name is) one of the people that buys the stuff?

And what then is th point of having all this broken armor? Did the makers just want to torture us by carrying all these lbs around?

Yes!!! As most people make that mistake the first time around. Keep the ancient broken armor as it is sellable. Toss the rest aside (broken shields, swords etc.).

who is the other merchant who buys this stuff? I usually just ignore broken items, except at the beginning of chapter 3

Welcome to IronWorks, TheDatch!
OK, whatever anyone says, don't keep any broken items. This isn't the begining of IWD 1 where you actually have a use of a broken item at the start of the game. By the time you start selling the HEAVY broken armors 200gp won't do you much good so just toss them. Toss it all. Trust me, it's not worth the encumberance.

Well, I just sold em to Oswald, but I had a bag of holding anyway, so I stashed em in there.
