I'm putting the finishing touches on some chicken soup I started simmering last night. We're getting ready for a late lunch, and then we'll be watching the movie classic, The Big Sleep.

One of my favorite Boggart movies, and the one where he met his future bride, Lauren Bacal. Jo doesn't think she's ever seen it, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll be off the boards for a few hours, so enjoy your weekend.

Ah, The Big Sleep Legend has it that Raymond Chandler, the screenwriter and author of the novel that the movie was based on, called the director in the middle of the night, srying, "We didn't put in who murdered the Chauffeur!" That's how complex the plot is. BTW, Rudy, Bogie and Bacall met on the set of To Have and Have Not,. She was 17 and he was 46, I believe.

Actually, it was his publisher Chandler called in the middle of the night. The book had already gone to press, and the publisher figured no one would notice.

They thought about fixing it in the movie, but Chandler nixed the idea. 1940s Hollywood respected author's intellectual property much more than todays.

I knew the ages, but was mistaken on the movie, I guess. Thanks for the info.
