True, Igali is a champion.
Look out for Alex Despatie (diving). The kid has it in him to medal, and possibly go gold. Besides these two, the other event I'm sure to watch is the heavyweight judo. Nicholas Gill (Canada's flagbearer) is a contender, having won silver in the last Olympics. I'll watch some B-ball, for fun. But if watching the Olympics conflicts at all with the World Cup of Hockey (haven't checked the scheduling yet), it'll be "goodbye Olympics."

'K, thanks. I'll probably try to tape it all, as it might be the last NHL-calibre hockey we see in while (I'm a wee bit skeptical about the new WHA; I won't believe it until I see it fly).
We now leave the emergency hockey update and return you to your regularly scheduled Olympics programming.

We have a good chance of taking home some medails. We got one big contender in womens tennis with Justine Henin. A good female sprinter Kim Geveart and some others in less known sports such as sailing oh and Peter Van Peteghem in cycling.
If anyone is interested in a less known sport, go take a look at the thread i just made about the European goalball championship. I know, shameless self advertising but otherwise that thread would sink to the bottom without anyone reading it because of the 'i don't know it so i don't care' factor

The whole event could become pretty damp if they don't manage to sell most of those unsold tickets. The olympics will not be the same without a good atmosphere.

Ho hum... The start of another Olympics...The news stories about the drug tests...Like stale nachos with old cheese.....booooring.
The actual Olympics isn't that bad but the months leading up to it..Man! All the media can focus on are the problems. Aaarrrgh! On another note... Don't like summer Olympics that much.. I really like the Winter Olympics. Skating, skiing, and my favorite one of all Hockey!!!! Just 2 more years and I can watch these great winter sports a month or so before my 18th birthday. Another thing that I just wanted off my chest. Thanks.

With soccer, Greece 2-2 Korea and Australia 1-1 Tunisia I actually don't like soccer (football)at the Olympics. If they are not the best of the best then they should not be there. Just my 2 cents. Mind you I suppose the same argument could be levelled against boxing which I like *confused*

I'm looking forward to the Olympics, should be a good one.
However I don't think the UK will do as well as last time, I think Paula will get gold in the marathon, and we should do well in the track cycling. I anticipate some good match ups against Australia. I would love to see the rowers do well but they are just not the same this time. I do think that the swimming we mostly be between Australia and USA, any medal there will be great for us. Hell getting to the final will be great! On track and field the GB team is not as strong either, but have hopes for shooting, cannoing and modern pentathlon (sp?) But good luck to all!!
