D2 (haven't played D1) gets boring soon! You will do everthing in the same order everytime you play it (no subquests, not being able to move on to the next area without completing the previous etc.)I threw it away before completing it (never did that before but D2 is so bad)
(BG2 is MUCH better)

I've played diablo 1 and 2 all the way, but completed it just once with a
mage, the rest were too boring. It has absolutely "NO REPLAY VALUE" and BG series is worth the time you put in. The most annoying thing about D2 is that each time you save and quit you end up in the town again, pretty annoying.

D1 actually has nice replay value, the quests that you have to do(Except for the final two or so.) change each time. And the layout of all parts of the dungeon except for five or so sub-levels change as well.

When i sai that diablo had no replay value i actually meant D2, sorry for the misconception plus i forgot all about D1 except i and my friends had real fun killing the butcher. Gives you a hard time early in the game.

I've played through Diablo 2, and I thought it was ok. Nothing compared to BG2 or NWN, but still entertaining enough.

Hmm, am i the only female here who plays Diablo? *sigh* once again i have to give my seeing on this most excellent game :
Diablo 1 to me was kinda on the boring side. You couldnt run 1st of all, and it was so packed full of hackers that it wasnt worth playing(even though it got game of the year, go figure!)
Ah, now Diablo 2 was much better . With closed battle.net, there was no cheating at all, except for map hack, which i really dont consider cheating . I enjoyed the game, and still do! I played it all summer and got my werewolf druid to lvl 76 in 3 days . I would still play it if i still had the CDs *sigh*. But hey the items are better then BG in my opinion . Not to mention its a hell of a lot easier to play online then the BG series!
And yes, my lvl 86 sorceress could kick ur lvl 99 barbarians ass

You forget one thing, LB, you only miss the running in D1 after playing D2. Oh, and playing it singleplayer, on a LAN or with someone you know will make you safe from hacks. I still say that it's better than the sequel. I sure had a hell of a lot more fun with it.

And with closed Battle.Net D2 is still full of morons and annoying people. More of the game was non-random. None of the quests were random at all, for instance. It also lacked that really cool "Dungeonish" feel of D1.

In D1 you really felt like you were in a deep, dark dungeon. No telling what was around the next corner..... In D2 I felt like I was in a left mouse-button clicking contest

I agree with Nebling i also like the D1 better than D2 it hadd the "right" dungeon feelling that i not had in D2 but i liked the expansion from Sierra to the Hellfire i think that was a greate to!
