Ramon asks if any of you know the URL of a good web-based specialized technology dictionary (English to/from other major western languages)? He's doing some technical translation to English (obviously ) and needs some help.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, Ramon, Bilqis, good to see you (even indirectly) !

I don't currently use a specialized dictionary, but maybe my husband does, since he works in high technology. He is away today, I will ask him tomorow.

Bilqis, I don't know how good it is (I only know English), but I found this:

http://www.mouli-net.com/translator

It has English, French, German and Spanish. It's at least a start.

By the way, what type of technology? In looking around, I found many very specialized sites for medical terms, water-related terms, etc. It might help to know what type of technology.

Thank you both, Moiraine & Keryvian!! That's a start. I shared what you said with Ramon and he said: Thanks, sounds promising. Well, not that specialized:electronics, physics, acoustics.

Will be checking back just in case someone else comes up with stuff.. and to see what Moiraine's husband says.

Thanks again!

Don't know if this will help much, but this site allows you to email your request in, and they will translate it for free....

Don't believe everything you read. I just went to the website and attempted to translate some e-mail that I got. Somebody sent me something in German or something related to German and I can't make heads or tails out of it.

When I entered that into the "free translator", it came up with a price quote of $400. Geez, I used the free translator at Babel to figure out what most of it was for free. Why they list as free is beyond my understanding. They should be sued for mis-representation.

Hey Bilqis, Long time no see. How ya been. Sorry I couldn't help ya with translating, but I've been looking for a good spot myself. Hopefully someone knows of something. Might just have to break down and take some foreign language classes at my local college. *SIGH*

Yes it has been a long time Tobbin! I'm as ok as I can be.
How are you? What have you been up to? Thanks for the attempt to help. What are you looking to translate? (Just curious)
