Memnoch I agree. That is why I go by Gamespot. Since they get the press releases and talk with the developers they have a good idea of when it will release. Amazon and gamestop back this information up so I listed them as well. I know even the developers could not give us a completely firm date this far out but at least we know what they are shooting for. Also SOU released a week before Gamespot, Amazon and Gamestop had it listed so good odds in my book.

Will the new one (Hordes) be complete in and of itself or will you have to have played through SoU first to do it? Anyone know if you start at beginning levels again?

You'll start around level 15, and according to a BioWare Producer HOTU will somehow be a continuation of SOU storyline, but you wont need SOU to play it.

This thread contains a link to the latest gamespy preview for even more HOTU info and screenshots.

Latest info on Hordes is this:

The level cap is now LEVEL 40 (!) but Dave Gaider of Bioware says the practical cap level in HotU will be mid-20's.

Henchman AI will be improved.

The game WILL continue the story from SoU but owning SoU will NOT be a prerequisite for playing HotU (owning NWN WILL be just as it was with HotU).

Well, that implies a short campaign, does it not? Hmm, who to play?

Not necessarily...at that level the XP required to advance is kind of exponential, and monster CRs do not increase exponentially - hope not, anyway...

Not necessarily a short campaign at all - although I wouldn't except something the size of the NWN OC. Remember most people are going to finish SoU at around 13th level assuming they started at level 1. If the expected finish of HotU puts you at level 25 - that's more or less the same jump in levels as you got in SoU. Only THIS time you aren't going to be fighting wimpy ol' kobolds - this time you are going to be fighting folks that can really put a butt whumping on you in a HURRY! lol

I believe the campaign is 15-20 hours, and should take you from lvl 15 to the mid twenty's.
