SPOILER
. . . . . Sling of Everard+5 can be purchased by the bonusmerchant Deidre or Joluvin either adventurers mart or Copper Coronet. You´ll find the scroll to Crom Fayr on Firkrag... I do not remember the rest of the items... You CAN go back and kill the red beast...but DO watch it...magical resistance is GREAT and those wingattacks just take out all in the party so save...and try agin and again and again and again and again... |

Oh yeah, the key you want is in the Windspear Hills. You'll find it whilst you're finishing the quest. Good luck.

I enjoy Jan. Hes a medium thief and a medium mage. He's quite funny too!
------------------ "No!" shreiked Tyrion. Though the sword felt heavy as a fallen tree he lifted it. He saw the deamon look up, astonished. He brought down the blade with the awesome majestic power of a falling thunderbolt. The burning blade caught the deamon right in the centre of its forehead. The deamon's head fell apart under the force of the impact. The deamon N'kari sank to its knees, dead. -Tyrion at the battle of the Blighted Isle. Right now he is mourning for USA. |

Jan isn't much of a stealth agent, but he's excellent at detecting and disarming traps and unpicking locks - in fact, he's almost unchallenged in that field. Give him some decent crossbow ammo and he and his spells can offer useful battlefield support. Give him a powerful short sword and if he gets into a fight there's about a 30% chance he'll live long ehough for you to rescue him, but hey... if your party's too full of wimpy spellcasters and musclebound meatheads, Jan offers a nice counterpoint.
He is also occasionally voted the Funniest NPC in polls, but soetimes loses out to Minsc - Jan's dialogs with other characters, and the little asides he makes midway through quests and conversations - are nothing short of absurdly hilarious. |

I love Jan the most, he is just so handy for his thieving skills (most commonly used in my case: pickpocketing, setting traps, disarming traps, unlocking chests).
All his conversations are funny, even his battle cries ("Take that, turnip beast scum!!!") Hmm, wonder what the turnout will be if I set up a Jan fan club? |

Sorry, just one to add an additional point to promote my little hero further...
His Int is lower than the other dual/single classed mages, but he does get an additional spell per level because he's an illusionist |
