O.k. don't remember too much about this as its been 3 months since i finished bg2, however I memeber stealing a gold statue of Lanthander from his temple. What do you do with this?

Well, Mae Var asks you to steal this from the temple of Lathander and give it to him. Nothing else, just little quest to gain Mae Vars friendship and infiltrate his guild.

Did this recently. It was an amulet from the sleeping priestess that MaeVar wanted. I don't know anything about a statue?

The quest from Mae'var depended on your alignment. If evil, give him the gold statue of Lathander. If good, give him the pendant from Talos

Well I was good and I had the statue anyway, cheers folks, clears up that loose end.
