And that stops Minsc from killing Edwin? Or Quayle from killing Tiax?

Both. No NPC will ever leave/kill the party of their own volition.

It's a true godsend.
Unless you're roleplaying, and you think Quayle should kill Tiax... |

Geez, just let the NPCs have their own will already. Otherwise, what's the point of alignment and the potential for in-party dynamics?
I must say that the very concept of that Happy NPCs mod makes me ill to the stomach.

Yeh. What's the point of NPCs being evil if they can't do evil things?

Well...
I guess if you're a power gamer, then you'll tend to side with leaving alignment out of the picture. On the other hand, being alignment bound, takes you out of the power gamer arena and more into roll play [considering the limited power NPCs.] I try for the middle ground myself. I think some of the NPCs are a bit too weenie (I don't like Imoen's 9 strength for a thief: it should be a least a darn 10 so she can carry her loot off -- as it stands now - I have her do lock and traps and then have my PC go in to carry off the loot...grrr.) I play alignment like this: My paladin recognizes evil and my chaotic good PC picks their pocket. Or...I talk with the fat guy and he's rude to me! I take his nice cloak off his shoulders when he bends over to sneeze. Now my paladin is an even better leader... Oh; and as far as stealing from the non-evil poor: it's quandary-time. I look at it as payment for me ultimately destroying the evil that plagues the land. I get rich and powerful to prevent forthcoming evil forces bent on desecrating the poor citizens of the land. A Guardian Angel -- that so happens to like pretty gold rings. I AM risking my neck for them. Shish. [ 08-08-2006, 06:17 PM: Message edited by: Roboghost ] |
