What the hell is wrong with me? Wait a minute... we have limited space here.

I have done a search of the archives to find out about transferring portraits from one BG game to another with no luck. I thought I followed the instructions in the game manual but something is wrong. The portrait is listed in the folder, but does not appear as an option when i create my character.

If someone more adept than I would post a link, I would appreciate it (i know this topic has been covered numerous times, because i benefitted from one such post). What I'm trying to do is move that (imo) cool dwarven fighter from IWD to SoA & BG.

Also, does anyone know if there's any site still hosting those Lady Nightshade portraits? I seem to recall some legal hassle over them a while back.

Thanks.

There are a few requirements that must be met:
- There must be two version of the portrait, one 110x170 pixels, the other 38x60 pixels
- The names can be no longer than 7 characters
- They must be bitmaps (.bmp)

As for Lady Nightshades portraits, there's a few portraits flying around on different sites, but she doesn't have a site of her own any longer. You can find quite many at Kirith, amongst other sites.

The large portrait should be 55,1 kb in size, the small one 6,85 kb in size..

The rest is already coverd by Sir Exxon, just filling in.

With bitmaps, that is covered in the dimensions.
Exxon, names of portraits can be *8* characters long, not 7.
Just for good measure, put L as the last character of the large portrait (xxxxxxxL.bmp), and S (xxxxxxxS.bmp) for the smaller one.

Oh, and just to make sure of the obvious... the portrait won`t appear as one of the options you click through with the blue buttons on the left and right of the current portrait; you have to click "custom" to view your non-standard portraits.

Okay, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my problem seems to be the transfer of a portrait from one BG game to the other. I believe I read somewhere that all the BG portraits are sized to meet the criteria for any given BG game.

Where I am having trouble is the manner in which I'm moving them (I think). The game does not recognize them once they are in the portraits file. As a test, I did a download from the Ironworks site and they DID work without a hitch.

Thank you for the portrait site, Sir Exxon.
