I can’t believe that really depressing song is the Christmas number one. Christmas is meant to be about joy and happiness not slitting your wrists shame The Darkness didn’t get the top spot. Oh well never mind.
So to cheer up, what are your 3 fave Christmas songs. Here’s mine. 1. Pogues with Kirsty McCall. With a Fairy Tale of New York 2. Wizzard. With I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday 3. The Darkness with Don’t let the bells end. [ 12-22-2003, 04:41 AM: Message edited by: Target ]

I'm into parody, so...
... I want a hippopotamus for Christmas (my wife's favorite) ... The restroom door said gentlemen (to the tune of "god rest ye merry...") ... I am Santa Claus (to the tune of Black Sabbath's Ironman) The first one is on a Doctor Demento Christmas compilation, and the last two are on two different Bob Rivers & Twisted Radio CDs (Twisted Christmas and I am Santa Claus). I guess I listen to Rudolph because it's one of my kids' favorites, but I don't let that worry me too much

It has to be Fairytale of New York. It wouldn't be Christmas without it.

Johnny Mathis, Amy Grant, Judy Collins, various choirs....I'm not big on the 'modern' stuff for Christmas Carols, but I do love Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas music!

My favorite CD is: Christmas Eve and Other Stories by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra
My favorite song on it is "Old City Bar" and here are the lyrics: OLD CITY BAR In an old city bar That is never too far From the places that gather The dreams that have been In the safety of night With its old neon light It beckons to strangers And they always come in And the snow it was falling The neon was calling The music was low And the night Christmas Eve And here was the danger That even with strangers Inside of this night It's easier to believe Then the door opened wide And a child came inside That no one in the bar Had seen there before And he asked did we know That outside in the snow That someone was lost Standing outside our door Then the bartender gazed Through the smoke and the haze Through the window and ice To a corner streetlight Where standing alone By a broken pay phone Was a girl the child said Could no longer get home And the snow it was falling The neon was calling The bartender turned And said , not that I care But how would you know this? The child said I've noticed If one could be home They'd be all ready there Then the bartender came out from behind the bar And in all of his life he was never that far And he did something else that he thought no one saw When he took all the cash from the register draw Then he followed the child to the girl cross the street And we watched from the bar as they started to speak Then he called for a cab and he said J.F.K. Put the girl in the cab and the cab drove away And we saw in his hand That the cash was all gone From the light that she had wished upon If you want to arrange it This world you can change it If we could somehow make this Christmas thing last By helping a neighbor Or even a stranger And to know who needs help You need only just ask Then he looked for the child But the child wasn't there Just the wind and the snow Waltzing dreams through the air So he walked back inside Somehow different I think For the rest of the night No one paid for a drink And the cynics will say That some neighborhood kid Wandered in on some bums In the world where they hid But they weren't there So they couldn't see By an old neon star On that, night, Christmas Eve When the snow it was falling The neon was calling And in case you should wonder In case you should care Why we're on our own Never went home On that night of all nights We were already there Then all at once inside that night He saw it all so clear The answer that he sought so long Had always been so near It's every gift that someone gives Expecting nothing back It's every kindness that we do Each simple little act But "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" (Carol Of The Bells actually) is also very good! Happy Holidays to All! Mark |

I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus by Kip Addotta I saw Daddy kissing Santa Claus Underneath the mistletoe last night. He didn't see me creep Down the stairs to have a peep. He thought that I was upstairs in my bedroom fast asleep. Then I saw Daddy tickle Santa Claus Underneath his beard so snowy white. There must be some mistake; Was I really awake? I rubbed my eyes and moved in close, a better look to take. Then I saw Daddy hugging Santa Claus. He took his hand and pulled him to the couch. It must have been just fine; Santa didn't mean to mind. Then Daddy moved across the room to pour them both some wine. Then I saw Daddy fondle Santa Claus, And on his ear he nibbled now and then. I crawled across the floor, I hid behind the door, I left it open just a crack so I could see some more. Then I saw Daddy undress Santa Claus. They quickly threw their clothes on our big chair. Well, much to my surprise, I couldn't believe my eyes! It wasn't Santa after all but Mommy in disguise, When I saw Daddy kissing Santa Claus Underneath to mistletoe last night. Oh what I laugh it would have been, If I had REALLY seen, Daddy kissing Santa Claus last night Of course it is the same tune as "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" played on toy piano (among other instruments). It's pretty darn funny. Mark |
