I agree that Dagger is a safe choice, I'm ok with Club at the moment but soon I will need a magic weapon to hit the harder targets.
I've previously taken low-level parties into Durlag's Tower (upstairs only) so maybe I'll check it out before making the choice for allocating the next proficiency point

Mmmmm - looks like I'm back to square one.
The dagger is too expensive and the scimitar has been moved by the mods I have installed. All I got from Upper Durlag's was nice XP but no equipment that could help me. So it appears I have to stay with club until something better turns up!

Hmmm.....I think the Erdane store in the Durlaq's Tower N area sells the scimitar+1, unless your mods got rid of it. Also, I believe it's a drop from from one of the ogre-mages,,,,,,the one in the Firewine dungeon,,,or maybe Karhk on the Firewine riverbed??

Well I've given up any hope of finding a magical scimitar, so that really only leaves dagger as an option for a single handed weapon. The other option is to give her the boot and replace her with someone who can do a better job as part-time fighter and spell caster.
Normally I play with weak characters using good equipment (like the Suicidal Gnomes) or I use strong characters with poor equipment to compensate. Right now I have weak characters with poor equipment which makes it a bit of a slog. I guess I under-estimated the effect of the mod!
