Paladins get a bonus to all of their saving throws. Helps just a little. [/QUOTE]I knew they were my favorite class for a reason! Tough little buggers, aren't they?

Yes, that bonus does make a difference. The only bad thing is that their special abilities are dependent on Charisma, they need Wisdom for spells, then the regular stats for fighting in melee (Strength, Constitution). That's a lot of spreading around of points, which makes the character have to make some sacrifices due to the spreading of points.

Anyway, back to the subject. Anything that ups your Will save will help you with the Bodak. Potions of owl's wisdom help, so does the feat Iron Will, Ring of Resistance, etc. I was using a cleric when I met him, and I survived by simply sitting back and picking him off with missile weapons (had the summon go melee, while Tomi and I picked him off from a distance). The death gaze has a pretty short range.

I know this was awhile back but since I just went through this I had to put my two bits worth in. Since my character is a sorcerer- not a paladin, not a cleric, and not a bull strengthened thief with a potion of invisibility- I needed another way. I tried a dire bear but that didn't work, and spell attacks were useless. To make a long story short I use a spell scroll that summoned a helm horror; what spell I'll keep to myself though i'll state its 7th level and I am presently only 5th. That worked like a charm which brings into the discussion the subject of creatures without life or soul for use against this monster and his death scream. Put another way, has anyone sent in animated dead. Just food for discussion.

what i used to wail on his butt was special hammer that dealt psionic damage. It kept disruppting his wail (of course my wail on his butt was better) and drinking AID, BLESS, BARKSKIN also helped alott. I tried with different weapons but this hammer was the quickest and less damaging to myself.

sorry i forgot the name but i think i found it in the castle.

Would Tenser's Transformation have done anything? I've found a few of those laying around.
