Hmm, I've been looking around on the web and I can't find any aite that can help me on this. I'm trying to play some old games (Doom, Heretic, Hexen, WarCraft 2...) on a network using IPX but it isn't working. My network usually has 2 sometimes 3 computers on it. One running XPhome, 2 running XPprofessional. I checked my settings and it says that IPX is installed for both computers but I can't get them to connect using the games. Do any of you have any advice on how to fix this or any sites that can help?

When you say IPX is installed for both computers, do you mean that you checked the LAN connection in Network and Dial-up connections and under properties you checked that IPX protocol is enabled for that connection? Make sure you do this.

IPX is implemented for you in WinXP. Unforturately it was done WRONG! I don't think you will ever get them working in XP. I've tried as well but not lately. I tried having a network game of Diablo (or something) with several other people (who didn't use winXP) and either they could see my computer and I couldn't see them or the other way around.
It could be that they fixed it in one of their updates. I doubt they have fixed it however but try doing a windows update. |
