Kethotar

Kethotar suddenly became defensive as he heard a moving sound not far away. Instinctly, he drew his long sword, ready to defend himself. He never got that opportunity, though, as the sound he heard had come from one of the member in his new party. He sighed ironically to himself, and thought, "I really need to get used to the fact that I'm not on my own."
The ranger sheathed his sword again, and digged the waterskin out of his backpack. He took a few mouthfulls, before he stood up, and stretched. He quickly noticed his back had stiffened of resting against rock. "Wonderful," he said to himself, and starting walking around, trying to soften up his back again.
After a short inspection round around the area, Kethotar started making his way to the town center, where he had planned to meet the others. Now was the time for him to ask his questions. That thought encouraged him quite a bit.

Shadow ~~39/51~~

The party was beginning to gather near the center of the "village" if it could still be called that. One elf that had arrived near the same time as the shadowed one was also making his way there, picking up his pace to a light jog while keeping his hands clear of his weapons, he came alongside of the other elf, bowing elegantly he whispered "Cormamin lindua ele lle, Goth en gothamin" before waiting for a reply he continued "Mankoi naa lle sinome?".

OOC: I told Kethotar, My heart sings to see thee, Foe of my foe, and Why are you here? respectively. The elven dialogue I'm using can be found here

The Possessor - 76/76

For all that they seemed to think of themselves as a group, they were nothing but a collection of individuals. If their task would be to take out a monster three times their size, they would succeed not because of team work and cooperation, but because of all those different strategies, one or two were bound to work. Perhaps in some ways that was a strength, but nearly every time would it prove a weakness. He had his doubts they were headed to the surface themselves, but since so many of them were still alive they could not have been here long. With some luck they might point him in the right direction.
At least there was food here. It was nothing like he was used to getting from his owner, not better or worse, simply different. And it was definately more satisfying than eating bugs.

And now, finally, they seemed to be getting organised.

The Possessor stopped playing with the ring he'd snapped around his bola earlier and let it slip into his pocket. He rose to his feet, and joined the others as they walked towards the village center.

ooc: TAO - I’d imagine your character would have a particular interest in and sensitivity to this.

Elsewhere – Throughout the land of IronWorks

Unseen and unnoticed, pathways run through the boards of this most unusual of worlds, these Forums of IronWorks. One might call them channels, another might just as easily and just as accurately name them seams, but their existence is real. Among all of those who have gamed here, only one had ever paid them attention, only one had ever moved along them, these pathways that are channels of the movement of life and posts, these pathways that are the seams along which boards are knit to threads and threads are knit to boards. Indeed it was by means of these very pathways which her druidic wisdom has named Ley Lines that the woman of the silver-banded throat first appeared near the tower of the One who Mods. Druids long have known a deep and unique affinity for things such as these, but what few had considered and none until these last days had ever dared act upon was the question of whether such affinity might be the means by which another might come to know such mysterious and subtle things as the Ley Lines which run through the Forums of IronWorks.

Affinity is a curious thing, a thing that sits firmly established as the ground of the magic systems of nearly all game settings, as a simple perusal of the material components in most spell descriptions reveals quickly enough. Affinity is the bedrock of rules governing magical research and the basis upon which the great majority of new spells and items are designed. Small wonder is it then that affinity, the curious affinity of a druid for such things as Ley Lines might prove to be important. It is by means of this affinity that a desecrating touch extends throughout the forums, the touch of a decidedly non-druidic presence which bears no love for any that live. Other affinities are at play here as well, and these allow an opening within the desecrated seams of the Forums, an opening through which more than a desecrating touch might reach …….

……. A shudder runs through the forums as an appetite reaches with sudden ferocity out along the Ley Lines. Posts in progress in a dozen boards simply disappear and threads grown weak and dormant are rudely seized by the stark emptiness of the Hunger. There is no warning, nor is there even time to scream, there is simply the sudden and furious grasping of an appetite which consumes and is never satisfied. The boards shake for a few long and painful moments and then all grows strangely silent and still as the open seams of the Forums are closed once more and the silent seeking after life and power of the buried Hunger waits beneath the collapsed boulders in the ravine for another opportunity to feed.

Deep within the Forums, however, all is not so still nor so quiet. The shuddering has not stopped, for deep beneath the complacent posting of the first few pages of the boards a terrifying touch has been felt and entire threads have been lost despite the dutiful submission to Choc with which their posts were made. Fear takes root deep in the land of IronWorks and a whispering presence reaches across the Ley Lines to savor its taste.

Yes! ….. O yes! ……

Deep within the shuddering foundations of IronWorks, those trapped in the dormant and forgotten threads see their helplessness without knowing its cause and their voices lift as one along with the whispered murmurs of the restless dead in their haunting repetition of a single note:

DOOM!

And so it is that the second great blow begins to be struck.

ooc: It is possible that those characters presently within the Underneath of the Forums might feel the brief but terrible shudder that runs through the boards. The clock is now ticking ……

Question Mark

ruby and wyrd

after their brief rest, the human female and her lion companion note the others gathering. there are some new faces, and an old one missing. not knowing at all how long these differences have been about, ruby feels slightly ill-prepared to meet. dusting off her cloak, and running a brush through her hair, and then wyrds, she is ready to face whatever may come at the meeting.

walking towards the center of the village with her eyes downcast, she prepares herself for the challenge of talking with ppl.

Syrathic HP:74/74

Syrathic felt much better after an hour of rest, and when he saw the gathering of his traveling companions and some new faces, he went over to join them. The Elf remembered something suddenly, and looked around for Dantes. He still had the note that Morguerat had left them before he had left. Syrathic and Brendon had been the only ones to see it thus far, and the Elf knew that the mage would definitely want to see it.

He stood near Ruby and Wyrd, and handed her the note Morguerat had left. "Perhaps you should read this too," he said softly. "I had forgotten all about it until we all gathered here."

He eyed the newcomers suspiciously, even the Elf he had spoken to earlier, his blue eyes shining faintly beneath the hood of his cloak. Mutual enemies did not mean that they were allies, after all.

Shadow 39/51 ooc: just a running inner monologue

At seeing the two other elves at the center of town his heart was torn, while it was wonderful for him to meet with other elves again, his shame was still a very near thing, and he was technically breaking his exile, or at least the spirit of it, his mask would conceal his face, but his skill with blade and spell would have revealed his profession to any who had had time to observe during the last battle, luckily most of them would have been distracted by thier own enemies, the last to arrive looked different than most elves he'd seen, taller for one thing, as the elves of the creator had been, could he be one of the surviving elves created by the architect of modern fantasy, the one who's work nearly all roleplaying in these forums was a pale attempt to copy, and make a piece of his vision their own... Possibly, I will keep an eye on him thought the bladesinger. The other at the town center seemed a bit meek, and from the way she involuntarily flinched she had been a prisoner until recently, very likely horribly mistreated... But her only source of interest to him was where her skills lay, surely sobbing quietly in the corner would not be a skill to let her survive in this realm.

OOC BTW Great post Cyril
