Arrow Resident Evil 3d

Anyone else saw it yet? I saw it last Friday and I was really disappointed.

I won't go into spoilers but this one is the worse of the franchise. The first 15 minutes are a complete reboot of the series. And then after that the movie itself is pretty weak.

The characters are never really challenged. There is no real obstacles, any times something happen to get in the way of the characters it is taken care of almost effortlessly in the next couple of minutes. When characters do get killed it is always the no screen-time characters you knew were cannon fodder from the start. And even then there is no tension built around it. It the "standing here one second, being dragged off-screen by a zombie coming out of nowhere" kind of deaths. By the time you realize there is danger the character is already dead and the movie has moved on. The characters themselves don't even stop and grieve. Most of the time they don't even wonder what happened to the victim.

There is also no horror elements. This one is pure action movie but there are barely any good action scenes. Maybe 2-3 good ones max. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen all the fight scenes. No kidding.

And it's one of the rare movies that manage to go at a breakneck pace and still have nothing happening. It feel like this movie was empty of content. There were basically three scenes: the reboot, the siege and the boss fight. Nothing happened. 10 minutes before the end of the movie I was checking my watch and telling myself "this movie can not end! It hasn't even started yet!".

Well I was right in a way. The movie ends in the middle of the story. No closure or anything. It justs ends mid stride just before a big fight scene.

I was really disappointed with this one. What bout you guys?

i liked it. though i was expecting an action flik so i wasn't setting myself out to be disappointed.

As for your points:
If they didnt reboot her, would you really want to watch a movie about how badass alice is with absolutely no chance of her coming into any real danger herself?
I believe the characters were really challenged; case in point - alice against the boss loses at first and has to be saved; she also takes a knife wound later in the movie.
If you were in a zombie apopcalypse and 99.99999% of humanity was undead already, would you really take time to grieve rather than continue to fight for your own survival?

Got to wonder how alice is going to manage to beat off the big fight scene at the end of the movie for the next movie though. after all, she has a lot of innocent people to protect; no time to do anything in, no super powers...

I was expecting an action movie too. It still doesn't change the fact that the story sucked, there was almost no real action, there was no challenge, almost nothing happened all movie, and the movie ended on a really huge cliffhanger. There's been plenty of action movies with good scripts this summer. This one is just awful.

About the reboot. At the end of the last movie the extent of her mental powers were only making someone bleed to death. They could have just ignored it or or said it took lots of efforts. That and they could just have said it doesn't work against zombies. It only became overpowered in this movie because they made it so before the reboot. For her physical abilities, well... she still kick zombie ass like it's nothing and she still take blows that would kill someone else. She's still superhuman.

Yes, she took a knife wound. It was the kind of serious wound that would disable the limb in question, would bleed a lot and would be extremely painful. And yet she just put a bandage on it and kept using that limb without any pain or loss of strength.

The only challenge in the movie is when she get knocked out by a blow that would crush someone else. But then her friend just comes in and keep the monster's attention the 30 seconds necessary for her to wake up and kick the big guy's ass. And then she just wander off without any lingering pain.

As for the last boss fight. Yeah she couldn't just kick it's ass without efforts. It took 3 of them to kick his ass without efforts. Considering his abilities and what he can do, they got away really easily. None of them even got wounded.

And let's not even get started on how terminally stupid all of them were. This is a little spoiler-ish but when they were at the scene with the big one smashing the gate, why did they stop shooting at it after two pistol shoots when letting it break the gate almost certainly meant death? One of them nearby had a shotgun!

Same with the last boss. They made a scene of unloading their pistols at his body. And yet none of them shot his head. Come on!

It's a stupid movie with nothing happening, no suspense, no challenge, and no ending.

The movie included half decent character model studies of Milla and Ali, which in itself is pretty neat but not for a feature length film. And as my wife noted the 3D was disappointing, even though this was apparently the only film since Avatar shot in real 3D and not done as an afterthought conversion.

Not worth the price of admission. You knew it had to be a slow weekend at the cinemas, though, because not much was on the menu. Wish I'd gone to see Scott Pilgrim.

I watched this movie last night. I think this latest RE movie is marginally better compared to the last 3.

However, I felt this movie is too actionlike. When I first saw it, I thought I was watching the next x men movie or something with all those super human moves and abilities. I agree with Luvian, the 'heroes' were never really threathen by anything. There is no horror or the feeling of impending doom. Maybe because I watch too much George Romero movie ehh?

I see that the movie incoperated some of RE5 game element into it, so I expected to see Chris Redfield with humongous muscles and Albert Wesker going berserk on him yelling "CHRIS!!!". Meh, it didn't really happen.

The ending is blatantly showing that they are going to make another RE movie.

Since they brought Chris Redfield into the movie, I wonder if they are going to put Leon Kennedy into the next movie. Or perhaps bring back Jill Valentine?
