But thanks for the tip...will do!

I always had 'Teddybear' Hamsters when I was young, fluffy little things! My previous cat, Charly would allow EMO (Hamster) to walk on him, but he would watch him scuddle around.. I'll post a pic of him with Charly.. it's a classic!

I just read on that website (hamster.petshop one) and it said this:

-------------
The Syrian Hamster is sometimes referred to as the 'Golden Hamster' due to its original wild golden colouring although today there are many different colour and coat mutations. It is also sometimes referred to as the Standard or Fancy Hamster and Long Haired Syrian hamsters are sometimes referred to as 'Teddy Bear Hamsters'.

It makes a good pet and easy enough for small children to handle under supervision. The average lifespan is 2-2½ years although they can live longer and up to 3-4 years is not too unusual.
---------

I WISH they lived 8 years.. When I was young, EMO 1 lived 2 years and Lady (Female Ham) had 9 babies, I named one of them EMO 2, and sometime in the day, EMO 2 got out of the Cage (Climbed waterbottle) and escaped, I found him much later under the fridge, hurt, and got him out. his leg was broke, and limp.. and it just stayed that way, vet said he was fine, it was like his left leg was kinda 'limp'.. he walked around and played though... I had him 2 years too..

Thats why I freaked when you said EIGHT years!! I wish!

My vote is for Eric, after Monty Python's "Eric, the Half a Bee" song...
