I was just wondering 'cos I haven't heard anything posted about it before, though I guess it's a bit old now, or 'cos Ironworks focuses more on RPG's or related games. So, has anyone played it? I like it, I got really far, past that virus crisis thing but I had to format my PC , so I lost all data and backups.
Anyone else?

Extremely addictive game. I quite enjoyed it for it's difference than your run of the mill shoot em up or RPG. I'm surprised it didn't do better.

Uplink is kind of unique. Or at least I've never run into anything quite like it before. Ive seen tons of shoot em ups, sneak em ups, beat em ups, but never a hack em up. Thats hack is the computer sense, not the maniac with a sword sense.

Definately worth a look if you fancy a change.

Far from it Bruce, it's a game where you play a hacker, and must break into various computers and systems and stuff of that ilk. It is actually pretty good, and a breath of fresh air

Yeah, Uplink has nothing to do with rpg's, shoot-em-up's or anything like that. It is a hacker game where you work for the Uplink co-orporation and fulfill missions for other companies. Your interface is basically a different PC (called a gateway) and your missions vary from simply deleting a company's data files for a rival company to chnaging people's criminal record and getting them arrested. You have to be careful, though, 'cos if you don't cover your tracks the company catches you and that game user is game over and you have to start from scratch. You can make back-ups of a user file, though, by just copying it and removing the copy from the uplink folder. When you get caught just delete the obselete file and copy over the back-up.

PS: You also do not need the CD after installing the game, but you have to enter a different code each time you create a new user from a small black wallet inside the game case.
