Just like to say "hi" to everyone! I've been reading these boards for some time now. Very informative. Thanx!
So here's my question: My one and only priest has now become a paladin. I've leveled up quite a few times sinc then but I'm not getting the option to further my Vine spells. Level 6 spells were the last ones I was getting. Did I screw up? Can I no longer get the Vine spells? Say it isn't so... If not, then how do I get them again? Also, where the heck is Scanthril's hidden lair? I've gone crazy looking for it and the special dagger! Thank you sooo much for the help! This probably won't be the last time you guys hear from me. I've only just arrived at Brimlock......

Welcome to the board, Hunter D!!!
Has your Paladin reached the level he was as a priest before you changed him to a paladin?? Until he reaches that level, he can only learn spells at half his former level - so probably just up to 3rd level. If you were really intent upon learning the level 7 spells in Vine - you may have to consider becoming a Ranger who can learn Vine spells. There are some pretty good charts and advice on changing classes and learning spells in the BEST TIPS thread. There are also many very informative posters here who have played the game far more recently than I have and will give you some excellent advice! Scanthril doesn't have a "special lair" - he hangs out by the burnt building NW of Ishad N'ha. Getting the Assassins Dagger is a two part quest - but he's going to try to ditch you after you do the first part (send you off to the Boogre Caves) - just ask him about another job. If you have offed him (as many a player has) there are other solutions. Wyv |

Welcome to the boards, Hunter D. May your very presence smite fear into undead hearts throughout the Gael Serran.
As to your questions, our Lady Wyv has already given you some good points. There are two kinds of spell schools you can learn: ones for which your character is proficient, and ones for which he or she is not. For those schools in which you are not proficient, you can learn spells at half your level. Clerics are proficient in Spirit and Vine Magic. Paladins are proficient in Spirit, and Rangers in Vine. So as a sixth-level paladin (with seven in spirit and seven in vine), you can learn up to sixth level spirit spells and up to third level vine spells. And don't worry -- there's little in the game that you can do which can't be corrected if need be.

Thanx!! That was fast.
Well, guess I'll have to turn him into a ranger and then ask Scanthril about another job. Thanx for the info! Oh, Where is the Temple of Kerah(Isis)? You see, I've been playing this game without a map or rules for a couple of weeks now. So it's been slow goin'. My friend gave me the game but he's the type of person who loses everything but the cd's. Thanx again!!

The temple of Isis is in the Enchanted Sea area, on the other side of Brimloch Roon. It's not really a temple, per se; it's more like a fountain, and it's wy to the North.
You can access the manuals and rules on your CD, BTW. Go exploring and you should find it. Sadly, there are no maps; those can be found, however, on Xignal's web site, which I'll go find the link for and paste into here.

Welcome to the Board, Hunter D!!!!
You've come out of the shadows...For all here to see, ...But your games almost done...So, how long will that be?? Looks like Wyv and Bungleau, have already given you the answers that you need. So I'll just add ...my ..... IMHO...You probably have most of the good vine spells already. the level 6 & 7 vine spells aren't very special....Whirling Dervish...is fun to watch ...but...not very distructive. and vine of life...can be replaced by ..Save Early ...Save often... BTW...heres the link for maps...and a whole lot more The WWHAP

Packrat, I've got to say I like the extra way you've started welcoming folks in. Brings a spot of cheer to any day, drab or glorious.

Um yeah.... The high level vine spells left a little to be desired. I almost killed myself using the whirlwind spell on the red dragon. I thought it would damage flyers. Fortunately I got lucky and an evil eye turned the flying monstrosity to stone. I actually still got xp's for killing it.
oh...I gave the Statue at the end of the Boogre gauntlet 12 kegs of brew. It only gave me the extra fortitude. Was it not drunk enough to give me the special trait? Or was I in the wrong place? Sorry for all the questions but do I really need to still lug around the 3 empty flasks I have left over from the old castle scene? Thanx alot guys. I'm also thinking of reverting the game before I get to the end. I havn't done that yet. Should I? What do you think? I promise...no more questions for a while. I'll melt back into the shadows....

Hunter D........all i can say is, ASK ASK ASK!!! there a gazillion ppl. here who r DIEING 2 answer ur questions for you (like me ).......
okok back 2 ur posts:- 1.the trait u recieve from that idol of bongu is at RANDOM. i dun know how many boogre brew u haf 2 give it but it gives that trait 2 u at RANDOM....... 2.i dun tink u need to "lug" around those 3 empty flasks from wherever u got them, although i still carry them around........ 3.are u meaning REVERTING or RESETTING??? coz they're both different, i suggest that u RESET the adventures b4 reaching the end, that way u can correct any mistakes u made during the short play n dun haf 2 play 4 so long 2 reach where u were b4. but be careful, u lose ur guild lvls when u RESET, as well as some quest items. hope all this helps, enjoy!!!
