I had issues with it too. If you think the Pillar Switch is aggravating... wait till you meet the Dorn's Deep Puzzle.

These two were the only time I had no choice but to succumb to a walkthrough for IWD.

balintherlas,

It's a perineal problem. At the height of this forum's glory, the question was probably asked in a new post about twice a week. I had no problem; because by the time I got there I'd seen this question answered about 6 times!

My problem, which was shared by relatively fewer individuals was on the level before: I couldn't see the passage that led off to the right, past the Mummy's chamber, after the battle with (IIRC) Mytos.

Definitely not just you, and it sounds like everyone has had this problem.

I remember not being able to find it and getting pretty discouraged with the game. I could appreciate the realism of it, that you actually had to find it. On the other hand, it's a game and I'm playing it to have fun, and spending twenty minutes finding a little switch is not fun. And so early in the game, I was afraid that this would be happening again and again.

I know your pain, I had exactly the same problem when played IWD for the first time. It even frustrated me so much, that I left IWD for two months. That problem led me eventually to IW, because I searched for IWD walkthrough and stumbled upon Ironworks IWD walkthrough, complete with maps and directions where to go.

"The writing is on the wall."

They give you a bit of a hint if you read [mouse click] the machine works against the wall where the door opens to the final level of K's Tomb.

Clue or not clue, the usual story is...

1) People KNOW that the switch is supposed to be on a pillar.
2) There are 3 pillars.
3) The switch is damn ~insert expletive~ small.

Pixel hunting makes not a fun time.
