no, that was just the first chracter i had created for party. i had created a few others the night i got the game, but was mainly just "goofing around" as i didnt really know what i was doing (lol,STILL don't really but learning from mistakes)
here's my current party but i might re-roll leader because of the low wis/int now.let me know of any other changes i should make .thanks (chaotic evil party): 1. male human fighter (leader) str 18/04 dex 15 con 18 int 3 wis 3 char 18 axes ++ great swords ++ 2. male human fighter str 18/65 dex 18 con 18 int 10 wis 4 char 14 axes ++ great swords++ 3. male dwarf fighter/cleric str 18/91 dex 15 con 14 int 15 wis 17 char 3 flails ++ maces ++ spells: cure light wounds command sanctuary 4. male halfling thief str 17 dex 19 con 18 int 6 wis 3 char 18 bows + daggers+ move silently 40% find traps 20% pick pockets 40% open locks 60% 5. female human necromancer str 11 dex 8 con 18 int 18 wis 18 char 3 missile weopons+ spells: burning hands chill touch magic missile 6. female gnome illusionist str 6 dex 18 con 18 int 19 wis 17 chaR 3 quarter staves+ spells: magic missile color spray grease far as i have been is in clearing out "orc cave" outside of easthaven.party got wiped out by ogre though so i'm going to have to re-do cave because i forgot to save game btw,how do i "recharge" spells? my spellcasters cant even cast spells anymore for some reason. do they need to rest at inn or something? and where can i learn resurrection spell? (where do i go to learn ANY spells?) [ 11-07-2003, 08:13 PM: Message edited by: blakething ] |

If you really want to play multiplayer then put a thread up here on IW asking if anyone else wants t play. Im sure youl get some people.
And btw, if you liked/disliked BGA then im just gona tell you it is nothing like bg for the comp. I consider the proper bg designed by bioware for the computer far superior to the one for ps2. The pc version is more like IWD (that sort of style but more dialog) than the ps2 version.

i've ran gamespy arcade a few times and there was absolutely NO IWD games in progress....lol...i've heard that multiplayer REALLY stinks for this game anyway ,that's why i was asking for everybody's opinion..might just go ahead and play through the game on SP first, then maybe post here about getting a MP game started at a later time...
...and i thought BGA on PS2 was pretty cool,if different...like i said i've never played the pc version of BG but if it's a lot like IWD, then i'll be sure and check it out sometime. |

You'll get differing opinions on whether IWD will work in multiplayer or not. For me at least, adding HoW and then TotLM eventually brought multiplayer games to a standstill due to excessive lag. With TolM, multiplayer became unplayable. With ONLY IWD installed, it played beautifully. Other people have had NO problem with IWD with TolM installed. You are probably going to have to take your chances IF you can actually find a group to play multiplayer with. THAT may be the bigger problem. Best of Luck.

blakething,
Looks like you are ready to roll! Thieving and Cleric are covered. Lots of high strength Fighter power AND magic, and you picked your Specialist Mages to ensure all mage schools are covered: Good job! Tweaks I would make if this were my party: 1.) Shovel some INT into the CHA bucket, to max CHA for PC#2, and let him lead. This allows you to shovel points OUT of CHA and max DEX on PC#1. DEX is important for your Fighter's survivability: High DEX lowers your AC. (You can still change your PC's point allocation using DaleKeeper.) 2.) Each Fighter should have a ranged weapon, preferably bows, as one of their specialties, instead of two close-in weapons. (The Cleric/Fighter will have to use slings.) 3.) I would DC or MC the Thief with Fighter, to pack even MORE Fighter power into the party. 4.) Since the Necromancer is already Human and you have another spellcaster in the party: I would start her out as a Fighter, pack every possible PP into bows, and stack the other 2 into daggers or short swords; then DC her to Necromancer at Fighter 6: She'll have lots of extra HPs, and regains her 4 PP in bows when she hits Necromancer 7; so she'll be a rockin' good ranged attacker when not throwing spells. I will try to get this right. I know that the "04" in "18/04" means your Fighter is 4% stronger than a STR = 18 Fighter. I think that means 4% of the difference between 18 and 19. The strongest (natural) strength a Human can have is STR = 18/00, which I think is the same as STR = 19. What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! Party On!! what is "DaleKeeper"? a character editor? i don't want to cheat but i might make some "alterations" like you suggested as im several hours into the game and i really dont want to have to start all over (again)... my party is actually doing pretty good now, other than the fact that it seems that i am CONSTANTLY having to go back to town to rez my necro (need a resurrection spell)
what is the difference between dual class and multi class? i dont understand this. for instance, when one of my fighters becomes level 6, i can then turn him into fighter/mage or something? |

DaleKeeper is indeed a character/savegame/inventory/spellbook editor, but it is useful for much more than cheating-- and in fact, you don't have to cheat with it at all.
As noted, you can use it to recreate a character that you mis-rolled when you don't want to play through the whole game again from the beginning. This is a rather tedious process (getting all the stats right and whatnot, so that you aren't cheating), but otherwise you couldn't do it at all. DaleKeeper is a very useful tool. Get it from http://www.mud-master.com/dalekeeper/ . As for dual classing, you can do that at any time after level two for human characters. It's dual classing when a human character begins as one class and then begins training as an additional class at some point in the game. Non-human characters can choose a multi-class such as fighter/thief or ranger/cleric during character creation. Due to the rules there are times that it's more advantageous than others to dual-class, meaning that one often chooses to dual when the character has reached a specific level of the first class. From the manual: Quote:
But still, it's a trade-off, as are non-human multi-classed characters, who level up slower, since the experience points they receive (which is 1/6th of the total experience received in a battle or quest for a 6-member party) is then divided between their two classes. So if a fighter/thief gets 100 XP, 50 are tallied to fighter, and 50 to thief, so it takes twice as long for this character to level up as either a fighter or a thief. On the other hand, you have a thief who is stronger and hardier than a pure thief, or a fighter with thief skills, meaning that you can have an extra mage, cleric or ranged fighter in your party, because you don't "need" a pure thief taking up a slot. i think i realize why multiplayer is such a problem with these games now because you have to worry about players editing all of their characters and whatnot, and bringing in bs into the game instead of playing legit....
