forgot 2 other things I've been wondering about...

first (or 3rd but who's counting ;P ), what do I need to do for Nicidemus to call in his favour??

And, with the room that says "Embrace the Shadow" on the door do I need to do something special to get in? Or is it one of the 2 rooms you can only get to through the painting?

Nickademus: You don't have to do anything. He'll "call" you (literally-- as I understand it, he teleports you) when he needs you.

Embrace the Shadow: The door with the actual, visible, man-shaped shadow on it is the door to the Inner Sanctum of the Ice Temple, where "Auril" and her altar reside. This door can only be opened by the Lightning Prism, and only if the secret door (the one that says "Embrace the Shadow" in the description when clicked upon) is open. If you came to the second level via saying "Lysan" at the staircase, the secret door should already be open, as it's the only way out of the room you were transported to onto the second level proper.

If you got to the second level via other means (meaning by saying something else at the staircase, or by using the staircase in the Troll Arena), then go back to the staircase and get yourself transported into the Shadow Room, get the secret door open (someone will take damage by "Embracing the Shadow" except possibly Evil characters), then turn the Prism and relevant moveable mirrors so that the Prism can hit the Shadow door, in order to open the inner door and complete several quests.

And this will be not in the Ice Temple now but very much towards the end of the game... dont worry about it.
