There was this one time I had a Bishop in my party (like everyone does) and I acquired psionic spells in the fire realm. Haste, PrismicRay, PrismicChaos to name a few, the thing is after making a new party this time with a Psionic the fire realm is NOT AVAILABLE to the Psionic. How come there are psionic spells in the fire realm, which a psionic cannot have? How can they acquire them?

You can't open the realm until you can learn a spell in it. For a psi-only caster, that's Psi Fire...L3 spell.

If that is the case, then why can't I put any points in FIRE realm (it's not there) on the skills page? I won't be able to learn any spells if there ain't any points in the FIRE realm right?

You will be able to learn psionic fire at level 5 if you have 30+ points in psionic (including the 25% bonus). And you will be able to add points to the fire realm from this level on, no matter whether you actually learn a fire spell.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that, until your spellscaster is able to learn a spell (just one) in a given college, they cannot put points into that college. the best example is the alchemist, who can never put points into the mental college (since he never gets mental spells).

yes, no points until qualified for a spell. Learning the spell gives you points in the realm.

Psionic Fire is a great spell in the early and middle game! So is Hypnotic Lure in the same realm at the same level. Just use the heck out of them and you may never need to put a point into Fire Magic at level-up.

Technically, it is possible for you to learn a Level 3 Psionic Fire Realm Spell from a Spell book when your Fire Magic Skill is 0 and your Psionics Skill is 29. What happens is that you learn the Spell and the action of that changes your Psionics to the minimum of 30 that you need to learn the spess (sort of a twilight zone time warp thing). It's strange that it can work that way, but it sometimes does. I and several other players have seen it in our games. In fact, it's a great way to squeeze another Skill Point in Psionics or other Mastery (Wizardry, Alchemy, Divinity, Psionics) out of the game, if your timing is right. Note that this does not always work, only a fraction of the time.

It will also sometimes work if your Mastery Skill is 28 and your Realm Skill is 10+, if your Mastery Skill 27 and your Realm Skill is 20+, etc. It gives you one extra in the Mastery Skill and that, with the 10% or realm rule is enough to meet the minimum (Mastery + 10% of Realm must, rounded down, be 15, 30, 45, 60, etc., for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc., Spells).

For any new players reading this there are level requirements in addition to the requirement above, for learning new Spells. There are no Intelligence or Piety requirements for learning spells, but these make the Skills you do need rise faster.
