My wife has occasionally complained that I spend too much time on my computer. I used to blame it on you guys, but she stopped accepting that answer, so I've had to regroup.

Now don't get the wrong idea, we do things together outside the house (and other things I can't mention here inside the house ), but she'd like for me to spend a bit more time with her in the evenings watching TV or movies or just chatting in the living room, instead of me sitting in front of the computer, which is in a bedroom, while she sits in the living room.

Well, we had a little tiff specifically regarding this subject the other night, and after thinking it over I finally had to admit she was right. I do spend too much time sitting in front of that computer, so I had to make a hard decision.

I knew what had to be done, and today I've gone and done it! I ordered a laptop and tomorrow I'll be running the networking cable under the house, so I can hook up while sitting in my favorite chair in the living room.

Problem solved!

Now, I know what you're thinking. What did my wife think about this sacrifice? She was speechless absolutely speachless when I told her!

Who da man?

hahaha! You have displayed excellent decision making logic there Ronn! Nice stuff..

But i think you might have just doused some of the flames on that fire.. and deep down the embers will still be burning.. and will threaten to flare up again..

Actually DJ, the whole post is "tongue in cheek". She's looking forward to the laptop as well, so we can both check our mail at the same time...lol.

It's a bit of an extravagance though because I just bought a new computer less than a year ago, but it will be cool to take DVD's, etc. on road trips for the kids.

Gaming will be possible, but on a limited basis. It's only got a 16MG video card. I could have spent quite a bit more by going to another machine and a 32MG card, but gaming (when possible) will be a bonus and was not a reason for buying a laptop.

What games that we talk about here will run on a 16MG video card?

got one problem, what if she notice you spend more of your eyes on the laptop then on the TV ( women can notice things to the smallest details ). won't this ignite the flame again?

Since you are using a laptop, I would recomend a wireless network ... the point of laptops is mobility. And it's much easier than trying to run cable through a house not designed for connectivity (I've done both). Just enable WEP encryption though for security.

Good justification though ....

Well Ronn, that is a very novel solution. As long as your wife finds that to be acceptable then no harm, no foul
You may find it necessary to become proficient at typing and entering your commands one handed, as she may desire some hand holding and other one arm demostrations of affection. Not to mention snacking on goodies and other what-nots. Might be a good time to invest in one of those nifty little home robot companions that can make the trips to the kitchen to refill goodies, ice cubes and so forth. Or at the bare minimum one of those new supportive mini laptop desktop harnesses that you strap on your chest so you can make those runs to the kitchen and the lavatory. Keep those battery packs charged
