Okay, so I know what party I am using...doubtful that they are the most powerful, but I think they will be quite fun....
Assimar Ranger/Bard (splitting levels)
Half-elf Fighter(1)/Druid
Halfling Barbarian?/Rogue? (not sure how I will do the levels)

What I am wondering is how these might turn out...especially concerning likely levels reached. I am most curious about the ranger/bard...I already know that most people will say "What was he thinking??!!!" but I have always liked the idea from a roleplaying perspective...the story-telling protector of the forest...
Any comments...

The Aasimar ranger/bard could be quote good, but I think you should know that a ranger isn't all that good at high levels. His best multi-class option is only one level, but that would incour an xp penalty for the aasimar. You might consider another race.
The fighter/druid could be nice. But ask yourself: why add one level of fighter to a druid?
Rogues are not very usefull in this game, all the rogue skills can easily be covered by the bard. You'd do well to take a barbarian x/fighter 4 with weapon spec in axes.

Actually, I am enticed by trying to get the Ranger/Bard into spellcasting...When you put the spells of both classes together, the mix is interesting even if not real powerful...but I think the character becomes more unique...

Oh, and I am influenced by the blade in BGII...really, the Ranger is more for the RP idea than any gamepower...I am just real curious to see what happens to the character if you keep the levels even.
Thanks for the replies thus far...

Any other class(except paladin) might be an interesting spell mix with the bard, but Ranger and Paladin get spells too slow, too weak and too few.

I realised that, but he'll be very dissappointed. Especially that Icewind Dale 2 hasn't got that much room for pure roleplaying.

Yeah, it's pretty much a hack-thru the way the first game was. And a short party won't make life easier, either. A full group is usually around level 16 at the end. The trio might get up to 20, which means 10/10 for multi-class if developed evenly. That's not very high for IWD2, especially with classes that don't get spells right away.
