So my group of 6 finished up Shurugeon Castle, and are going to take on the Stout Mines. Well, Jeroboa is slated to become an assassin, so I had him detour off to talk to Scanthril.

He approached Scanthril, who whirls around and says, "What? Who are you? You shouldn't be sneaking up on Scanthril, if you know what's good for you!"

Not a word about Gorthius.

It's the first time in 5 playthroughs that I've never heard "Now that Gorthius is out of the way..."

I even reloaded to check it. Nope, nothing about him.

However....I got the "Gorthius" message when Daegen, my human Samurai, approached.

Is it because Jeroboa is a fellow ratling??

Everytime I've gone to him, he's said, "Now that Gorthius is out of the way..." I don't have any Ratlings so maybe that is why. Everytime I've walked up to him though, I've always been careful and slow, so maybe you've been walking up to him too fast.

It's a good idea, Jafin...but I think Daegen walked up to him at about the same rate as Jeroboa. I need to check their speeds, though...Jeroboa, being a ratling, may be a lot faster than a clunky Samurai in plate mail!

It'd be interesting to find out that races and classes could actually effect your walking speed. I should put a ratling in my party and check it out.

I wonder if maybe you still have to have that note you found near Gorthius' corpse or ???

I know they affect how well you can squeeze through tight places. Quite often, a gnome or ratling will be able to squeeze through an opening that a big ol' human or Omphaaz can't!

Jeroboa seems to run pretty fast, but I think it's the speed rating on the stats screen that really determines it.

I've always had the note from Gorthius on me when I was there... I think I'll drop it and go there tonight. Maybe we can solve this mystery yet.

Fascinating...you know, I never thought to give them the note. Wonder what they would do!!!

I think Alicat gave them the Rat Skull with some hilarious results.

And you know what???? I dropped the note just outside of Ishad N'ha!

Maybe that's the clue to the mystery!

I'll go pick it up again and approach them and see what happens.
