Hey Dale riders,

What season did you all first play IWD & HoW during?

The reason I ask is that I remember in late Winter/early spring last year when I first completed IWD that I got some rather cool 'virtual reality' weather happening. HoW thus far is great!

Autumn has only really just started, but it has been cool at night which is when I spend the majority of my time playing IWD. Whats been impressing me on this 'VR' level also, has een the ambience of the soundtrack in HoW.
It makes me consider actually waiting until its Winter to play it!

I've only just completed the Burial Isle the other night and played it with all lights out just to enhance the sensation of being there! I think this is one of the truly great themes in a powerful RPG experience...the pull of its world on the human consciousness.

I decided to let the ghosts live on the dock type area in Burial Isle, although might have been ok. I have a hunch that if I don't kill them and return to them after everything is sorted with Wyldyne - I may gain more XP than what I would by just killing them. Other experiences here?

I'm currently wandering around those beautiful Gloomfrost caverns, having surreal memories of Secret of the Silver Blades, cleaving Remorhaz and barely surviving.I used to think were rather rare in Ad&d...until now!

Yep, time to get back there.
Cheers all,
CerebroDragon

I didn't understand your message at first (almost autumn) until I saw the Australia at the bottom. G'day! I live in the Northeastern United States and am just coming out of a long winter, and all my IWD gaming has been done in the cold weather. You raise a good point- I don't know if it will feel strange if I'm playing in the ninety degree days of summer, but I imagine it will. Right now, I'm doing TOLM before going to the Sea of Moving Ice in the HOW expansion. Hopefully, I'll be done before the really warm weather hits and I end up dealing with the sea of melting ice. On the other hand, maybe it will make me feel cool. I never turn out the lights, however, because it bugs my eyes out.

I killed the burial guys- all of them. I was a little concerned about it though because you have to figure they're guarding the graves and you're the one trespassing. On the other hand, they wouldn't cut me any slack and kept telling me I had the mark of evil or something and had to leave. That'll learn 'em.

I first played in winter which was great but I now really enjoy playing it in summer on the hottest days. For some reason the sound, and environment provides a little coolness relief at least in the mind.
