In the last week, I have watched both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Now, I just wanted to know your opinions! They both seemed alright entertainment, and I enjoyed watching them. They werent the best film's in the world, but not the worst right?

I saw a review saying that The Mummy Returns was awful, but I enjoyed it.

I thought that Brendon Fraser was good in both films (although, for some reason, I remember disliking a film he did, although I cant remember it).

And I thought that the actor who played Johnathan played his character very well, he amused me.

Your thoughts.....

I'm waiting to see if The Scorpion King (the one with The Rock) does well enough to justify the hype, or if its just another movie counting on star power (like Spiceworld..what an unpleasant memory that was.)
And The Mummy Returns was cool. Did anyone recognise the fetishes from Diablo 2?

I actually enjoyed Mummy 2 also (The first was okay, but the second really kept me into it). I generally dont pay attention to most "professional" movie reviewers. It seems to me they are just looking for too much in movies (or maybe just not what I'm looking for). I just want to be entertained. Hell one of the movies I enjoyed most was Fast and the Furious this summer. It also got some bad reviews.

The professional reviewer in my local paper doesnt seem to like anything but obscure independent films (not that they are bad), but he comes off as this movie elitist. Go figure...

P.s.
I remember when he gave Tombstone one of the lowest reviews possible and basically said it was a piece of crap and a total waste of time. He actually wound up backpedalling on that one. The locals were ready to string him up by his thumbs and beat him death with heavy bags of freshly minted nickles (I live in Texas and we take westerns seriously, hehe).
Just my 2.

Ahh, I enjoyed both of them very much.
I think they are both very good made. I liked the first one most, but I dont rightly understand why the second got so bad reviews either.

I have both on DVD.. I enjoyed both.

Only things on the second one for me were :
1) At times some of the corny one liners made me groan too much
2) If they had put Imhotep to rest forever how can he be ressurected once again.
3) Where did those wierd pixie/fetish guys in the Oasis come from?

The added DVD extras were really intersting too, I for one enjoy seeing how things are done in the movies and I love seeing outtakes and mistakes people make (Jackie Chan films are best for those)
There is also a fair bit of historical info about Egyptology which is informative.

They are making a Scorpion King movie at the moment, showing how he became who he is which might be good.
All in all both get a thumbs up from me

Liked em both, quite a bit, but second used to many plot devices from the first, though I think this was deliberate to make it funnier.

I didn't like the Mummy at all. It was such an Indiana Jones wannabe, but let's face it - Brendan Fraser is no Harrison Ford

I enjoyed both movies, immensely, though the second movie was my favorite, as it tied the two together well. I really enjoyed that plot, and how the two women were reincarnated and bitter enemies...etc...I especially enjoyed that evil woman's voice...

It was great, imo.

Mmmmm. They were OK, no awards from me though.
Don't like Brendan Fraser one little bit, but John Hannah is a brilliant actor.
Annoyed me that there was a compound shot of the Thames in 'Return' in which the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge were shown in the same shot - er... sorry, but not possible, they are quite a way apart, and the river bends between them quite a lot. Seems silly, but stuff like that irritates me. I honestly think that film-makers think their viewing public are stupid, and won't realise it's London unless they cram all the recognisable tourist spots into one shot.

Well, I thought they were both pretty darn good.

The first was just a good all round light entertainment blast, but I thought that the plot in the second one was well thought out.

I liked how the two girls were rivals from the past (afore mentioned), and that one was the Pharoah's fiance (who cheated on him with Imhotep) and one was his daughter...how the fiance was re-incarnated but the daughter was in another life....

I also didn't understand where the little goblin creatures came from!!

the only other thing that bugged me, was how little The Rock featured in the film when he was hyped to be such a huge character...and when he featured as the resurected Scorpian King, it was all computer animated.....so the only acting the Rock did was in the very start at the Oasis!

Ah well, I enjoyed em both!!
