an update on my dad

Well, as i posted here a few months ago, my dad is very, very sick. he has bad problems with cirrhosis of the liver caused by a former alcohol addiction (the things he's going through right now are much more effective than any AA meeting). anyways, last week he went into ICU for some operations. he has to get both kidney and liver dialysis done on him, and he'll be in ICU until at least the end of this week, and i have no idea until he gets out of the hospital entirely. also he has an extremely high ammonia level, and has to take special medication for that every day. he has to watch his fluid intake every day because when he was sick for the first time the muscles in his abdomen began to get too relaxed when he was laying in the hospital bed, and he got a hernia from working too much after that.

Anyways, he just went into dialysis a few minutes ago. he's the first man in Oklahoma to get a liver dialysis on the new machines, and Oklahoma is one of the three states that has a machine that can do it at all. please everyone, keep him in your thoughts and prayers. God knows that he's gonna need each and every one of them...

I was hoping that I was wrong about everything, but from what you said it sounds like I was right. Take comfort in the fact that medicine has advanced a great deal. They can do a lot more today than they were able to do for my stepfather. As long as he keeps up with the medication and does what the doctors ask of him, he should be ok. Know that my thoughts and prayers go with you.

Although we don't know each other that well,my thoughts are definately with your father.I work in a hospital myself,and know that very,very much is possible nowadays.I very much hope all turns out well,may you all find the strength to get through these difficult times.
