DO NOT GET A GATEWAY MONITOR!!!!!!! that's my only opinion on the subject. my lovely gateway monitor is soooo difficult to read. everything is blurry. we tried updating the adpter drivers and stuff, but no updates. it's a really bad monitor is all. so whatever you do get a good monitor.

I'll have to throw in my support for Dell as well. [img]smile.gif[/img]
I wanted one for the past few years, since a friend got one. I got an 8200 Dimension this year for @1600US, but they have them in all ranges. I don't know how long before your birthday, but you can sign up at their site to recieve their catalogs, and I've seen some good deals in there. Dell also usually has some freebies going on as well, free shipping, free memory upgrade,etc. My sis-in-law got a Gateway, and she isn't nearly as pleased as I am. I also think she paid too much for what she got.
