Another interesting read. Microsoft says that Linux violates some copywright laws, and that the biggest users of the Linux software that Microsoft is aiming guns at are the Asian countries. In their defence, they say that Microsoft has the potential to be used to disable their government in time of war, so they would rather not risk such an exploit. Bunch of fun times ahead, eh?

I dont believe microsoft to be the root of all evil like some people but I am glad to see the only viable alternate get major league support like this. Compition can only make things better IMO

LOL. Balmer is constantly saying these things and last time I read one of those a later m$ had already 'clarified' it cause they don't meant to sue linux. Well let's see what happens. I prefer linux anyway

Author of Linux Patent Study Says Ballmer Got it Wrong. Basically, Ballmer said "Linux does violate over 228 patents", while the study says "Linux may violate up to 228 un-tested patents, many of which are held by Linux-friendly organisations (Novel, Redhat, et al)".

I read somewhere on the Register that Ballmer had retracted half of what he said originally and specifically stated that Microsoft were not considering taking legal action against Linux.
Just another example of trying to scare Linux customers away by associating patent violations and the threat of legal action with usage of Linux. |

Pretty stupid really. I welcome the competition since hopefully it will make microsoft get their act together, and make better, more reliable OS's. After all the money spent on releasing SP2, which would get rid of all security potholes, more have come about. If open source can be secure surely MS can too.
Linux is welcome competition IMO
