In BG2 they said 'Based on AD&D 2nd Edition rules', and ti was kind of a hodge-podge mix of 2nd edition with some 3rd edition classes. For NWN, are they going to go pretty much straight by the book 3rd edition rules?

But the base rules are still 3ED and the classes are 3ED as well. Every slight change and ommission was given the official stamp of approval from Wizards of the Coast, who have the right to pull the license if they feel Bioware is veering too far from the official rules. Hope this helps. Going from PnP to CRPG is similar to going from a book to a movie...you try to stay faithful to the original but inevitably the transition requires some changes.
