Can't find a Longtooth

There weren't any in the northern alcoves of Skull Island, and I've explored and mapped the whole eastern half of this part of the game world without running across one. Any ideas on something I could try to encourage the game to produce one of these for me to get the hide from for Talrik? I'd like to get this done before getting into the Skull Castle go-through.

Sig,

Don't worry about them too much. They're random monsters, and can occur anywhere. I've run across them in the clearing near Talrik's ship, in the leprechaun area, and in the area in front of Anephas' shrine (as well as all around the pyramid, come to think of it).

You can find Talrik's treasure without the map, so the only real benefit is the additional XP.

It can be a pain..

...It's a shame he wasn't interested in raptor egg souffle..LOL

The up side is...his treasure is there even if you Don't give him a pelt (It's at the Backdoor of the 'Cooolasium')... and.....all you get from him is a hint, on how to find his treasure... [img]graemlins/blueblink.gif[/img] ...'when you find a broken cart on the shore...Walk straight out, It's about ?? steps...at the bottom of the sea'...I don't remember if he even tells you it's in the Enchanted Sea.(meaning...it's not on this side of the shrine)

I spent alot of extra time, finding him a pelt. Then I spent hours looking everywhere between the Brimloch gates and Shrine of Anephas'. I finally gave up.....of course I stumbled onto the cart...much later in the game....

OK, thanks, guys. I haven't checked the big alcove area with Anephas' shrine in it, so I'll try there. And it's good to know that you can find Talrik's treasure even if you've been unable to find him a Longtooth hide. But I'm confident I'll run into some sooner or later. I think they might've made them hard-to-find on purpose, at least before you even do Skull Castle, to get you to explore all the beach alcoves, encounter and fight the various monsters on land and sea, collect the crab shells for the underwater breathers you'll be needing, discover and talk to Oakenmir, etc. Yeah, I could've had my Paladin chick whip Talrik up a nice Raptor omelette, but no-o-o.

To add where to look, I´ve encountered longtooths inside Skull Castle and Anephas´ Shrine lol. And also out in the middle of the sea!!

Don´t you just hate intruders when lying on the beach trying to get a tan? You decide to cool off in the water only to have a large cat with ridiculous teeth ambush you from the deeps of the sea

... What is the world coming to?

haha i can imagine a longtooth coming out from the enchanted sea!!! a "seatooth" is more like it........heehee!
also, i tried 2 give talrik the longtooth hide (encounted dozens of those longtooths, even in anephas's shrine. found a longtooth KING in there!

) but he just wouldnt take it! is this a bug or is it natural???

IIRC...It seemed like there were alot of them around...Before Talrik asks for a pelt. I remember dropping several (not worth enough GP & they took up too much space)...Then After I had the quest....No more Longtooths...and the pelts I had dropped...were gone.

..a couple of other points...
1. If you have a theif...try to steal the pelts, If you kill them...you only have 1 chance to get a pelt. (the same thing applies to 'crabs & shells')
2. If you have the 'Summon Creature' spell....they are one of the posssible creatures that appear.

BTW...Willow...Next time you decide to tan on the beach...take along a Gourk or a Booger....then maybe you'll get less gawkers...

Set your spawn rate to max if it isn't already - that should improve the chances of a LongTooth showing up.

I found those beasts all over the place in the Enchanted Sea - including right next to Talrik (which was very handy indeed). Doesn't matter where you actually find the skin as long as you get it so go hunting for crab shells or anything else you may need to do in the E-Sea area and eventually a LongTooth will arrive!

Yse follow Wyv´s suggestion. Also some places seem to respawn more than others. Outside the entrance of Anephas´ Shrine for instance. I encouter new monsters there all the time. When one group is killed another instantly appears.

how come u ppl. keep on complaining about not being able to find any longtooths???

i found at least 3 when i juz arrived at skull castle island! maybe something is fishy here, oh well.............
n wat is that pelt u ppl. are talking about??? sorry, i dun bother 2 remember things so much nowadays..........
