Those that download movies... beware!
I saw this, and figured I would pass it on....
========================== Some new movies posted will tell you to download their media player to view the movie. 3wPlayer is a rogue media player software application bundled with trojans that can infect computers running Microsoft Windows. It is designed to exploit users who download video files, instructing them to download and install the program in order to view the video. The 3wPlayer is infected with Trojan.Win32.Obfuscated.en According to Symantec, 3wPlayer "may download" a piece of adware they refer to as Adware.Lop, which "adds its own toolbar and search button to Internet Explorer". Others to avoid are DomPlayer and x3Player. ========================== Just be careful out there....

Re: Those that download movies... beware!
This is an old trick with new players. As a general rule, if any streaming video or otherwise requires a special player that is not VLC, WMP or QT - I simply don't watch it. There's no reason a movie cannot use any of the formats within these 3 players. The exceptions are proprietry players from reputable sites. Such as ABC.com to view old episodes etc.

Re: Those that download movies... beware!
Speaking as a long term user of torrents I can only say NEVER EVER use anything that VLC cannot play - I have seen these files myself and always just delete them when they ask me to download the player. A good rule of thumb is that is something looks too good to be true - then it most likely is!

Re: Those that download movies... beware!
Agreed. These proprietary players most always have spyware/malware crap...
Hell, I won't even install Silverlight from Microsoft. If WMP, QT, VLC, Real can't play it, its not worth playing.
