I have installed W&W both normally and by manual method (both seemed OK). However, when I start to play I immediately get opening screen and game freezes with message: "Deep6: malloc error". Can anyone indicate the meaning of this message so I can check out my problem? My guess is to do with memory allocation, however, I have tried shutting all other apps to no effect. I have an Intel 600 mhz running with 256 Mb, TNT2 Ultra card (with latest drivers), 512 MB swapfile (on HD with multi GB of spare space), and running under Windows ME (with MANY other games playing ok!). Anythoughts on interpretation of above message would be very helpful. Thanks.

I think this is a general error report that can appear at different times in the game, possibly as a result of different problems.
Be sure to check out the FAQ's on www.activision.com and also have your power management off, Windows running virtual memory, and the latest video/sound drivers installed. Try a different size installation, and if you can get that far switch to software mode for graphics. Best of luck. Loremaster |
