1024 x 768, on a 15 " or 17" monitor,
1264 x 1024 on a 19" or higher. But then, I can read small characters . Don't forget, though, that, roughly after hitting 40, a lot of people start to have sighting problems at short distance, and usually they don't want it to be known, so they won't wear glasses for a while, but they will go for lower screen resolutions ... ------------------ The world is my oyster ! And now I have the knives to open it ... |

800x600
I haven't ever actually considered running at higher res...this works just spiffy for me. ------------------ The line between good and evil is a razor sharp thing. Be careful of misteps, as you may find yourself spitted upon your own blade. |

800x600 most of the time. How's everything going Slackerboy? Nice page by the way.

The Javascript method of determining the screen res and redirecting to the appropriate page is the best solution I can think of, and the one I'd recommend SB to use. As a web designer, I do not recommend using the "relative sizing" method of using percentages, for more often than not they end up resizing your page in ways you did NOT want to occur. It's best to pick a lower res and use absolute pixel sizes on that. Just so you know I wasn't talking out of my hat: here where I work at International Business School in Denton, 18 of our computers still have a maximum screen res of 640 x 480, 53 have a screen res of 800 x 600, and only 5 have screen res' of 1024 x 768 (all of them either faculty or staff, mine being one of those.) Try posting something to this forum using a 640 x 480 computer screen. Hehe, can you say "Horizontal Scroll?" (I've done it, too!) Cheers, |

Oh, and just for the record, at home I run 1024 x 768 on a 17" monitor. I did have it set at 1280 x 1024 at one time, but it really hurt my eyes and I'm not getting any younger.
