When you create a ranger, and then when done with the game, transfer to SoA, would there be a way to change the racial enemy, so it won't be something like hobgoblins when I want dragons?

I don't think so no. You can only adjust a new racial enemy when you start with a new character in BG2. I'm not 100 % sure though...

Actually, I believe Rangers *do* pick new racial enemies when they're ported to BG2. I seem to remember doing so when I ported my Ranger. Nits?

I second Lemmy. My first SoA char was an imported cleric/ranger. The racial enemy got changed from kobolds to spiders. Then I started playing SoA, and wishing I'd done something else. Eh. By the time I got to those something elses, a racial enemy bonus would've been just that.

It would be weird though, because you have already chosen a racial enemy.. changing is kind of.. cheesy IMHO.

Well maybe the whole getting kidnapped by Irenicus and such messes you up in a way where you choose a new racial enemy.

Or one could look at it as the DM giving permission to re-set racial enemy. I think it's practical, myself. BG2 has choices for Racial Enemy that didn't exist in BG1. The Big Wigs undoubtedly realized being stuck with some racial enemy that was almost exclusively BG1 in nature, never having the chance to select a BG2 race, would be rather irritating. Irritating like being stranded on a desert island with Skie. Speaking of, it's too bad Rangers can't set "Racial Enemy: Annoying NPC". (Oh, that gives me a party idea!) -Lem |

Ranger does change his racial enemy. Some of the old ones do not even appear in BG][.
Even Minsc signs a treaty with gnolls and discovers an enmity for vampires.
