One thing that, if it could be different, I would want it is the
display for the skills list. The max # for displayable skills is 20. That's fine when you have a lower level char but when you have advanced a character a good way some of them "disappear" off the screen and you can't add points to them. e.g. with one of my chars now, he's learnt so many skills that gallantry and prowess have disappeared from the list. (now admittedly maybe i shouldn't have learnt so much but, to be able to scroll the screen would still be a nice feature) |

Amen, brother! Many of us have bemoaned the fact that they slip off the screen. That's part of the reason why I wait until the end to train in Sorcery -- it remains on the screen to the end of the game.
Whenever W&W 2 comes out, I hope that will be fixed, along with the list of traits. While they still work and don't have to be trained, it would be nice to know what you've learned.

One would think it would be possible to solve the problem with a patch.

One is absolutely correct, and one would have to find someone with the tools and abilities to develop and test the patch.
Unfortunately, Activision isn't interested in putting out another patch, so it would have to come from the community somewhere. I know that this kind of thing has happened before in the Might & Magic world, but MM9 was a much newer game. If I knew where the tools and code were, I'd be happy to look into it. Nothing like today for learning some new technology, I always say...

Well I've done one thing, that I don't recomend to others, but
I had one superb character and her got so many traits that couple of them didn't fit in the screen. So I get one 'mule' trait ( axe trait ) that I didn't need and every time I get level I use all point into axe trait. Then I opened editor and changed other traits what I wanted to raise into that level I could get by leveling up... So you have one trait you don't need and use all points to that, then open editor and change those traits you want to raise... Well it's cheating, but if you delete that trait afterwards, I think it's leagal OH! Sorry that I was talking about traits! I meaned skills! Activision didn't put out the first patch for that matter either. HP did that on their own so it's always been sort of an "unofficial patch". Activision hasn't shown any real support for W&W at all, which is a shame.
I believe it is in the Best Tips thread somewhere to put your points into the skills most likely to scroll off first. There are a number of skills that can be ignored - alternate weapons mostly. This game really has a bias towards swords, daggers and staves. Wyv |

One more example of hasty work of the realization team. The missing scrollbars in the skill and trait windows drive me crazy again and again. Was it a big problem to implement them?
Well, it can't be mended. Traits vanishing from the screen are only nuisance. They continue working. On the other hand, vanishing skills are a problem. You cannot invest your skill points in the vanised skills. Keep in mind that the skills have a fixed ordering on the skill list and that the list ends with the following skills: - Gallantry - Prowess - Deathstrike You can train Deathstrike in the guilds but nobody will train you in Gallantry and Prowess. You must improve these skills by means of your skill points. Therefore, either train these skills ASAP or make sure that you won't have more than 20 skills.

Next game I'll remember that.... won't train in the other weapons etc, just
spells and traits. (Already gone back about 3 days worth of play twice - don't fancy going waaaaaaay back) Thanks for all the info Radek. |
